sounds like you have isolated the problem to closed loop, by jumping the sensors, you set it to -55*F which will make the computer run rich (could also be one side of that connection touching ground, which would be more evident when you are in clm because the ecm is modulating fuel based on ect tps and osat). you can add a resistor as a jumper, say 10kOhm 5 watt resistor and see what that does for your mixture. Maybe you have a bad oxygen sensor or improper flow over it. try unplugging it and plugging back in the ect. Pretty well taking readings from the O2 sensor to close the loop is the difference between open and closed loop.

Update- Finally got this problem solved, The problem was that we had put the coolant sensor in a brass fitting and then screwed it into the manifold. For some reason this fouled up the sensor readings. After putting in the correct intake manifold it runs like it should.

Hmm.....we're still fighting the one that I was posting on before. I'll have to have him check the CTS and see if there's a fitting on his, but pretty sure it's just right into the manifold. We did get his to run almost normal with the CTS unplugged though......
