Are there any new vehicles that you do like?-_-

They are kinda few and far between. I LOVE the '03-05 2500-3500 Dodges. The newer ones are OK, but I don't care for the headlights.

There's NOTHING in the GM line that interests me at all. I'm coming around to the latest Tahoe/Suburban (still don't like the Yukon.....iccchhh) looking OK, but still hate that they are a 4x4 SUV and have less ground clearance than a '74 LTD. Yeah, you can lift them, but that aint cheap in a lot of ways (lose your precious IFS 'ride', stress steering components, etc. and the lift itself is kinda silly expensive).

The JK Wrangler is pretty interesting. I think I like everything but the laid back grille. I'm kinda interested in a 4 door if it has enough motor.

Before I bought my truck I went looking for a commuter car. There's some of those that are kinda OK, but they go for some decent cheese. Mostly I'm disappointed with what you have to pay to get a basic chassis with 4 tires nowadays. $18-20K for a Hyuandai (the midsize that's kinda 3 series looking is actually pretty nice)? come on.......... That kinda iced the decision to get a 6 passenger truck or Excursion if I could find the right one.

I get a kick out of everyone being defensive of their likes and dislikes. C'mon people, opinions are like A-holes, everyones got one. I'm glad we all don't like the same thing, think how boring life would be.

FJ Cruiser seems fairly stout, i don't care for the styling however, but yeah that might be a good alternative to look at. No CRD though, which i think, is a big draw to the KJ.

Might want to wait for the new 4 door wrangler and see what it looks like... rumor has it by '09 or '10 model will have the new diesel engine in. we'll see.

I just hate suv's regardless.

The only way I find them remotely acceptable is if they were built before 1980 and avalible in the US to the general public.

I will ask you this, what makes you think a suv is neccessary in your life?

Your hatred makes me want one more. :D

The true reason I want and small suv is that Marc won't want to modify it!

We are still test driving but the Hyundai is out for sure, it drives like a piece of shat! You never know we still might end up with a car, I would just like more cargo space.

Thanks again for all the input!

My wife has a 04 durango with a hemi for a daily driver. It's a sweet ride and can pull the jeep too when needed. Not that great on gas though. I sort of wish we had bought an econobox that got 40 MPG.... but then I would need another vehicle for those occasional tow rig needs.

if you're interested in a car, have a look at the 05-07 grand prix I have one Love it 27-32 MPG depending on how you work it with a big V6. it's a little low, decent sized trunk You won't believe it until you open it. We bought the car for a simular reason to what you are we have a truck it gets ~18 mpg in town the car basically doubles the mileage and costs 1/3 of the cost of the truck so you de-value it less by adding miles (because there is less capital to de-value). We can fit us and 3 rowdy boys in it 2 in carseats.

If we go the car direction, it will most likely be a Mazda 3 or 6. We have had good luck with Mazda so far....Angie REALLY likes the CX7, but the $$ are a little high....It is more of a car than an SUV, but FUN to drive!

If it ends up being a car, I will probably look for a jeepster or LR classic to build as a trail/camp rig....:D
Whos say 2 people don't need 5 vehicles :)

You know the Jeepster is often considered the first SUV:D
http://www.bajainsider.com/driving-baja/jeep_history.htm

"The story of the 2006 Jeep Commander can be traced back to the Willys-Overland Jeepster, the first SUV of its kind, sold to civilians in 1948. It had two doors and could accommodate up to five passengers. The 2006 Commander retains true Jeep heritage by offering authentic exterior styling, a well-appointed cabin and a number of safety innovations as standard equipment. The availability of the hybrid engine would make this an even better vehicle. As such, the 2006 Commander is recommended for families who need a SUV for cross-country drivin"

My daughter has a Mazda 6 and that car rocks. Even with a 4 cyl it goes pretty well. I rented one with the V6 and couldn't believe the power. They're great lil cars.

for smaller suv's... check out a Kia Sorento... those feel like a truck... actual frame... they have a great history in the baja races and junk... anyways, i like them...

i drove mazda 3's on the mish, and they are sweet... my bro in law sports one now, and they love it. i sat in the back to and from jackson hole about a month ago... and i don't have one complaint about the ride, even in the back seat...

Mommy has a V6 Libby. I think it is a pile. I really don't like the body and interior. I would take a H3, but have not driven one yet. The new FJ is just as nasty as the Libby in my opinion. My new neighbor has the Chev Colorado with the same 5 cylinder as the H3 and says he sees 26 MPG regular.

I thought it was kinda wimpy on the 'grunt' part of the powerband. If you rapped it up like a YZ, it wasn't too bad, but isn't it a truck? I like the power off idle as much as possible. It didn't have much.

My little bro has a Colorado and really likes it, so I thought I'd check out the H3. I'll give it a 'C' grade. Not enough for me to part with my yet to be earned cash......
