My wife wants a car, and it will be a Mazda 6 sport wagon.. with some upgrades. She's trying to talk me into the Mazdaspeed 6 :eek2, I think it's a bit much for a grocery getter. Plus there is no replacement for displacement and the wagon comes w/a 6cyl. :)

The 6 still reigns as the only car I'd actually consider a loan for. Great driving position, decent room, economy and cost. I love it!

for smaller suv's... check out a Kia Sorento... those feel like a truck... actual frame... they have a great history in the baja races and junk... anyways, i like them...

We looked at them, but I don't see the point when sticker is more then the KJ....I expect under $20k but all of them o the lot were 20K+

I am not a big fan of the liberty, but the diesel makes them a lot more appealing.
My question is how long do you plan to own this car? If it is only a few years I wouldn't buy a jeep (zj/xj experience)--they tend to depreciate faster then you can pay them off.
If you are going to keep it for years doesn't really matter and the diesel will last longer then the unibody. I like the IFS because you are less likely to lift it.

KJ weakness

I've had a 2003 KJ for about a year now. I have a 2.5" spacer lift on it, Rancho rsx struts and shocks, and 265-75-16's. It rides real nice on the road and does pretty well on the trails and in light rock use. I'm about to replace the upper control arms for the second time since the lift! I've had it with the wimpy little components in the front end. I am now putting together parts for a solid axle swap. I thought I could live with no artuculation in the front. It would do just fine with a locker. However, just a few quick sprints down a rocky road and the front end starts making sublte clunks and knocks allerting me to damaged ball joints. I'm thinking of going with a basic xj setup in the front of my KJ. Any ideas or suggestions??? Thanks, Marc

Marc, you should start a new thread in Tech with this post. I hear there are several kits out there for the SAS into the KJ.

IMO the lib is not a good rock crawler, by the time you put in a SAS it's just not worth it. Buy something else if you are going to that extent.
