I dig this.

If you had it to do again, what would you use instead of the chipboard? Does it need to be structural, or would something like greenboard sheetrock work?

It needs to be structual, the body is a torsion box, without the ridgid structure it would just fall apart. I'd use 3/4" ACX plywood, and use a router to remove most of it, like this build:

At the time I started this project, that looked like too much work. well, now I know better :)

A router? Unless you have a CNC router, I would recommend either a sawzall (I know everyone has one of these) or a jigsaw. Router would take a long time to make all those openings.
Sawzall = fast. :)

The right router and bit is going to be just as fast as a sawzall, and it turns the corners a lot faster :)

What would be really cool is put a PTO out the back of your Jeep, put a Dana 60 under the trailer, and hook it up with a double CV drive shaft. Power under the camper, now you could go anywhere and the camper would be pulling its own weight.....or pushing you when in the mud...:D

Just like the military Gama Goats, or Weasels....

Well, we know you have a bit of an obsession with 6 wheel drive :D

Got the front window in and rolled some sand colored durabak on the sides and back hatch.

Now I'm on my 3rd attempt to get something working for doors. Bloody pain in the arse, the next project is going to use pre-fabbed doors for sure.

Gave up on building doors, just couldn't get them right. So I filled in the passenger side hole, and dropped a prefabbed door into the drivers side.

Finally got the body weatherproof, and I pulled it off the frame so I can finish some minor welds, add shock tabs, complete the hitch area, and paint the sucker. I'm trying to get it campable in the next week or 2 and try it out.

Awesome trailer. That should get the job done.
I always end up getting to camp late also. Last trip we didnt get there till midnight . Backed in and jumped inside, went to sleep.

IMO, that was a smart move on the doors and windows. Those are things that you just can't ever get right...and when they aren't right you end up with leaky (wind, rain, and dust) cracks. Not a bad little setup.
