Teraflex IR

Looking for a little input. I put a 2 1/2 teraflex lift on the JL and now have front drive shaft vibrations so I need to upgrade the drive shaft. In reading Tom Woods specs, I need to have less driveline angle for the double carden shafts. Enter needing some Alpine Arms. Now, I’m a spender and love buying the best there is.... Covid has changed that for me... boo!!
My JL is a daily driver, not much wheeling, today.... as we all know that is going to change.
My question is, is the extra cost for the IR bushings worth it? Difference is about $400.

thoughts?

I didn't realize the cost difference was that much. I've had the Alpine front lowers on my JK since they first released. I can't imagine I would gain anything in terms of flex or less bind by switching to the IR bushings. Your lowers may be a little longer than mine though, so maybe you could? I would lean toward skipping them for that price.

full disclosure (for anyone who is unaware,) I work for Teraflex

The IRs will absolutely eliminate bushing bind, as they allow full 360* movement. There is a noticeable ride difference both on and off road, as you are not fighting the twisting movements of standard rubber bushings. The IRs are double sealed, and maintenance free, and come with a lifetime warranty.

Dennis does a great job explaining and showing the benefits here:

Thanks Mr. Quest, didn't see that video before now. Nice to hear that they are lifetime warranted. Even though I'm really no longer hard core, it would be nice to have a set of these.

I would still love to hear some real world experiences from a member that has installed them, if anyone has.

Thanks,

I have run both versions and have been extremely pleased with the IR bushings. Rides smooth and flexes amazing, I have more Offroad than street miles on them which is still only roughly 3k and they are just as good as the day I put them on. Teraflex also has replacement front upper axle bushings that are IR and I have those installed as well for full benefit.

It's pretty impressive that they make a noticeable difference! It makes sense when you think about how a bushing is in a bind on both ends of the control arm and the rubber is binding against itself when moving.

I'm going to need new control arms on my Gladiator eventually, think I'll have to get the IR bushings too. Thanks for the info!
