TH400/np205 question

I have a TH400 / NP205 combo out of an 86 K30 Chevy (round pattern) that I have been hanging on to for spare parts if my 85 K30 ever had issues. I have been considering moving some of this out to free up space in my garage. I went on Pirate to see what these things go for and it was quite a bit. However I couldn't tell if what was valuable was t-case or the adapter that goes between them. I know the TH400 isn't hard to find, so which is it and why ?

I think both the round pattern adapter and round pattern 205 are fairly rare thus adding to the price. I think they only came in later '80s models one tons?

Did the later 205's 91ish have the slip on the t case? It has been 15+ years or so since I looked under a old 1 ton.
I may want the 400 though.

Depends on the truck. My 87 has a fixed yoke. But it's a crew-cab dually with a 454, which does make a difference.

These days I'm not really sure why 205's are still fairly spendy-- since the trend has been towards Atlas/Stak cases instead of doublers...

My guess is that guys who are building mud trucks or desert racers want the strength of a 205 and don't need the really low range. They also don't want to spend as much as the Atlas/Stak option requires. Having cheaper factory spares is also a plus.

I'm in my doubler 1450.00 and I've seen a few used atlas for less than 2k since I finished mine, not sure what they are new but after seeing how much mine weighed after built makes me second guess my decision.
