The Best Tire Prices??

Nope, I've never run an interco tire, but I have plenty of friends who do. They're tough tires for sure, but my rig doesn't weigh much and I'm more concerned with traction than strength of the sidewall. But that's just me.

I just see a lot of people on forums recommend the SSRs as a great offroad tire without considering the terrain they'll be used on. The best Florida tire is far different from the best Utah tire. You catch my drift. I think there are better options traction-wise for our terrain here in Utah. Not meaning to diss intercos, just making sure killshot did a little research before dropping $1000 on new tires based off someone's advice from across the country. Just trying to help killshot out. Feel free to ignore me. :D

So you have no personal experience but you're giving advise ;)

I've never had a pony but I hear they rule the terrain in Utah.

I'm just messing with you Steve, but there are multiple types of terrain here in Utah. One tire isn't more suited than another to everything.

Krawlers are awesome in the rocks, they are terrible, awful, bad in the snow. Bias TSL are bad on the street. Thornbirds are dumb.

If I had the dough I'd run the new Kevlar MTR for mixed use.

With what the OP is asking I think a Pitbull sound great.

isn't that what the interweb is all about? :D I have personal experience, just not as an owner. I've never owned a JK, but I know they flat out rock for certain terrain. I've run more than 15 trails with guys with ssr's. I didn't have to be behind the wheel to gain experience with them. Back in high school everyone ran swampers, cuz they looked so tough. But then again, they never went offroad. :)

I saw a join date of jan 2012 and assumed he might be new to the area. It sounds like he's done his research. carry on.

I'd be hard pressed to find issue with my Kevlar MTR. They work decently onroad, even unbalanced 40" tires. They aren't the BEST off road tire, but the do work pretty well and have proven fairly tough so far.

Having owned SSRs and Swamper TSL/SX, I'd NEVER get the SSR again. There's nothing really wrong with them other than they are a Swamper and don't balance/ride/wear well, but they aren't as tough as their SX brothers that balance/ride/wear similarly. I would consider an SX again for an offroad only rig. They do work decently and are definitely tough. There are better tires out there, but few that are as tough.

I ran ssr's on a fullsize crew cab and they were fantastic! Great wear, good in snow and decent offorad (mud/dirt) it was no crawler. I would run them again on a dd. MtR Kevlars are awesome for my friend (but I've only owned the old ones) lol

So I just got off the phone with jays tire in bountiful and he was higher than I expected going off of what you guys have said about him being cheaper. They want $380 a tire for the Swamper SSR, $408 for the BFG Krawler, and $345 for the Maxxis Trebador. All of those prices are higher than fat bobs garage (the first place I called and so far has been the best pricing)

I will take a look at the online tire link and see what I can find. Thanks,

Jays was the cheapest for me as well on my last set of BFGs (which was only about 6 weeks ago). Honestly, even if they are more expensive, unless it's a ton, I'll still be using them. I was treated like they truly appreciated my business. I said this in another thread, but I've spent a ton of money at Discount over the years, they have my purchases in their system, but yet every time I go in there I'm treated like I should be thankful to do business with them. I won't be giving them any more of my money, even if they are the cheapest.

Customer service is always great to have but in this case where I just want to pay and pick up my tires with no mount or ballance customer service isn't too high up on my list for tires. As long as whoever I go through gets them in when they say they are going to get them in I will be happy.

Treps are great! I know Ilean runs that size on his 4 runner,
and in my opinion they did great last time he competed with us in Delta.
Much better than the tires he had before. procomp extremes?

I just got a great deal on tires for my car having Discount match www.onlinetires.com.

Discount tires has never been the cheapest. They always say they will beat any price and then when it gets too cheap they won't. At least that has been my experience. Kind of like how cabelas says they will beat any price, but then when you try to have them price match they say,"except that place, it is too cheap".
