It's funny how people have their different ideas of what a "Big City" is.

My wife gets irritated when I call Logan a City. To her Logan is a town, and richmond is a village

Cleveland Ohio (where she is from) is an actual "Big City"

SLC is not bad at all, sure there are downsides. But I work for a large national corp, I could live any number of places, I choose to live here. I can be in moab, backpacking, hiking, kayaking or rafting, decent hunting, world class fishing, great skiing lots of 4 wheeling, shooting or killing coyotes within a couple of hours... Sure most of those things are true of other Utah towns but there are good jobs and lots of job opportunities in SLC. If I didn't have the job I couldn't afford all of the above mentioned activities.

It is also real nice to be able to spend 15 min and run down and pick up welding gas or wire or steel or run to home depot to get that one thing I need to finish the project on the house. My neighbors are not constantly monitoring me and my families whereabouts...Picking up a gyro at 9:30 on a Thursday night ain't bad either...

Small towns are nice to grow up in or retire in, but SLC is not too bad in the meantime.

Butlerville???

When I was a kid in Butlerville (now Cottonwood Heights) we were way out of town. You could stand behind the elementary school and see downtown way off to the north. The tallest building was the Walker center. Now I live downtown and am always looking to move out of northern Utah.

I havent heared that name in years! I moved there in '63, about 2700 east and 7600 south. we had a dirt road, and from the back yard you could see the Walker center, and depending on the weather, the sign would be different colors. Do they still do that? now when i go see Mom and Dad, its a rat race to get there.

Doesn't living in the big city about kill you with stress

Hate to say it, but if you think SLC is a Big City, you've never been to a Big City! Spend some time in New York, LA or even Seattle then come back to Salt Lake. Its like coming back to paradise! Clean streets, quite, big open spaces... bliss.
I personally love SLC. I would love to get an old bungalow in the Avenues and renovate it. But I know that my path is going to lead me elsewhere, most likely to the North East. So SLC will always be a Small Town for me!

I worked at the Walker Center about 6 years ago and part of my job was to go down to the basement after watching the weather report and flip the switches for the sign light colors.:D
I lived at 7200 south and 2825 east from 1955 until 1973.
Definitely not the same now:(

So he's feeling bad about all the damage to his car as he gets to the tow truck company he meets the next bandit in line waiting to take advantage of him. They had the car 11 hour and moved it 7 block and charged him $230. stress

FYI-You can thank UDOT on the towing rates. UDOT is who sets the standards/guide lines. I've towed a few stolen/abandoned cars myself. But I do know that twoing companies can charge more depending on the time/distance/weather and work load.

Amen to that! I love our little corner of the world where no one locks their doors, the keys are left in the backhoe at our yard, and everyone knows that if our door happens to be locked due to a trip, just go in through the garage! :)

So once I get tired of driving your backhoe around I can drive it to your house and, let myself in thru the garage to get a sandwich.:D

I would give anything to live in a small town again. (grew up in Nephi) I hate living in Orem. Maybe someday I'll live in a small town again.
