I visited the Hidden Splendor area early this year, great area and some scenic wheeling (truthfully nothing warranted 4WD). I too find it interesting to see SUWA driving to camp at a MINE, just on the edge of a wilderness area they fought to get (the road used to continue to Hanksville via Muddy Creek, road looks completely passable... lame!!!). Not too mention the cabin, airstrip and misc mining relics that dot the area... A perfect combination to me, but I thought SUWA was more up for the hike into a quiet place where the "spirit" isn't destoyed by the sights and sounds of man...

A group of disabled wheelers are meeting there on the same day to illegally run that road. They've invited the BLM to issue tickets to the handicap people riding their ATV's to places where only the SUWA-ites can walk thanks to their meddling.

It's going to be quite a site. I'm going to try and make it down there.

They are going to run Muddy Creek? Good on them!

Where did you hear this? Any writeups news clips, etc?

I heard it from the USA-ALL board meeting, but I haven't seen it anywhere else. I know they want to attract media attention to get some photos of BLM officials writing tickets to disabled OHV users. Our buddy Dean Richardson said he was going to be there. I suspect the SUWA-ites will form a human chain to shield the dirt from being mistreated by OHV tires.

it would be awesome if it rained really hard and they got all their subaru's stuck in the mud and had to be pulled out by the disabled atv'ers
