The end of an era

Over the last 2 seasons Nate and I have learned what it takes to be top competitors in the world of professional rock crawling. Once we stepped up to a pro class in my home built Promod car it took an entire season of working out issues and dialing in the car along with us learning what the car was capable of. Well I sold that car this last week and turned around and bought another promod. I had grown to loathe the LS motor the weight and power was more of a nuisance than anything but it was still sad to see it to go. I learned so much building the car and I feel like I owe alot to that car.

With all that being said as we dive deeper into the world of competition it was time to get a more competitive car. Being around the scene as much as we have we have sen all the current and past promod cars. So when Kevin Reimers promod went up for sale I knew I had to have it. It is hands down the lightest promod currently in the scene and possibly ever built. The car weighs in at 2890 with the front tires filled with water to the top of the wheels. Currently the only things I plan on changing it swapping on a set of the ProComp Stickies in the 40" flavor and adding a rear air locker.

Specs:
1.4 liter Direct injected ecotec turbo motor (weighs 165 pounds fully dressed)
Hughes oober built powerglide
5.0:1 Atlas
Mega HI9s front and rear
Front Spool
Rear Grizzly Locker
5.40 Gears
Spidertrax Inner Cs and Knuckles
Spidertrax Axle shafts all the way around
Spidertrax ultimate housings
Spidertrax unit bearings
SPidertrax 14" rotors with wilwood calipers
PSC 3.0" DE steering cylinder
PSC CBR 1800 PSI steering pump

It really is amazing the little bit I have crawled around with it you can tell thats its a very light car and very well engineered.

For reference, what is the old tire/size in the comparison picture?

Good luck with this one! You guys did so well with the last one.

The old tires coming off are 37" sticky Krawlers

Awesome! We talked about this the other day.

Glad your plans worked out!

Driving a 4 cylinder turbo car with a 3000 rpm stall converter is going to take some getting used to but so far its pretty rad.

Congrats on the finish and a new ride

I have great memories from my two seasons in WEROCK

Have you considered an Eaton e-locker? Competition made me loath my air lockers but electricity made it better :)

I'm a little surprised you sold the Pro Mod, but totally understand why! The replacement should really help you & Nate stay on the podium next season, can't wait to see how you do! Any plans to get some seat time under your belt and get to know how the new rig works?

I have never considered an E locker, I have never had a single issue with my air lockers working when I needed them to. Also with a full ride Yukon sponsorship not paying for lockers is the bees knees.

The rig itself is superior as hard as it was for me to admit it. Plus after everything was said and done I put quite a healthy chunk of cash in pocket. I sold my car for top dollar and bought this one on clearance pricing. I probably wouldnt have done the swap if it was an even straight across trade.

Some of those fancy, flat gas cans are also a requirement.

Ryan put in quite a bit of work convincing me that this car would be an upgrade after we put so much time into getting the old car to work so well and got 2nd in the nation. It was truly a labor of love but I look forward to pushing the limits with the new car!

Mine never failed, except when i needed them :)
I remember those days, Yukon is a great sponsor and promoter of the sport.

Kevin Reimer is a fantastic fabricator and an engineering genius. I was lucky to be able to buy his first buggy, a Samurai based buggy that weighs 1750 lb. That little machine is so much fun to pilot and can conquer most obstacles on 33's. Good luck with your future competitions.

It's crazy how little up-travel it has.... I realize it's a comp rig and stability combined with a low center of gravity is best, but that's what, 4" up travel at the most? Are the rear shocks 2.5's also?
