So from what I have seen the most common reasons for people to bail out are:
Money,
Lost Interest,
Project got to overwhelming,
Wife said...It's Got ta go......... :p

So, what can be done.....?
Make more money,
Only bite off as much as you can chew,
Do it in moderation,
Beat the wife and build a dog house for her to sleep in.....

ps,

You Must Love This Sport To Be Able To Handle ALL The Ups And Downs.

I love my XJ. It will probably take me forever to build my buggy.
Hopefully by the time I get around to it, I will have changed my mind. :D

I will continue to push the limits on keeping the scout street legal. I enjoy driving it anywhere I wish, knowing the pile can take a severe beating. I built this rig knowing what I wanted? but like most, always thinking of changes and upgrades. I always stop and think what the outcome will be IF I make the change though. I guess that is why the Scout has survive the total chop and not become a truggy rig. I thought of building a buggy but it is just not in my interest to be that limited.

I've kicked around the idea of selling the Scrambler & doing the whole buggy thing, but like it has been said, it is just too limiting. Trailer it everywhere, not exactly family friendly, etc. I like being able to jump in the Jeep with the wife & kid and just cruise around on a nice weekend. Can't do that in a buggy! ;)

That's correct! I'm going to do some minor things to the family Blazer, but for the rocks I'm building the stupid-low M715. The other trucks are going to the scrapyard, I can't justify 4 trucks and the money they cost to build right. For slightly more exciting use we will probably have a Cruiser or something.

The Blazer is turning out to be a decent idea, mostly because it is so cheap to build, and it fits everyone in reasonable comfort and safety, plus it's not bad off-road. The M715 will be done for probably less than 5k, and probably be boring off road on Rockwells and 42-46" tires. But, no trailer and it's street legal here.

i go both ways on this one.
when my jeep sits on the trailer for a while, not getting wheeled i think maybe i shouldn't have chopped it.
but then when i take it out and beat the hell out of it, i couldn't be happier about the chop. even while it was raining all ejs, i had a freaking blast!!
imo there is no winning, regrets are just part of being human.
i think i am a lot happier with it now that i have my ctd

Pretty much how i feel. Except the CTD part, I like my PSD....

So the next street legal project is a '27 T budget rod PU.
(BC knows where that is coming from :( ;) )
