In our town there is a guy who does this as well (hang the flag upside down in his front window). He also writes many letters to the editor as to how displeased he is with the government and how it is all Pres. Bush's fault that everything is the way it is. Honestly it sickens me. I don't mind freedom of speech within it's boundaries, I am against people using that freedom of speech to degrade the very country I love. If they don't like it here, do something to change it. This type of awareness is not positive awareness and it does nothing but makes others think how big of an idiot you are to be using your freedoms so loosly. I'd love to see other nations put up with this type of disrespect.
If this keeps on going on we will lose these freedoms. This person was subjected to many broken windows. It wasn't until he got shot at with a low power pellet gun through that very window that he decided that his point wasn't getting across the way he wanted it to. This was evident in one of his recent letter to the editors.
Actually; I am saying it, if you don't like it get out. Find another place where it will be better accepted. France is a good place to go whine and do nothing to change the situation.
Yesterday I was picking up my son from Kindergarten and the neighbor girl ran outside and started lowering the flag outside the school. I stopped and helped her before it hit the ground, I couldn't just stand there as many others were doing just watching it get lowered and almost falling to the ground, I had to do something. I explained to her the signifigance of the flag and why we don't let it hit the ground (as explained to me in Boy Scouts). Then I helped her fold it. Apparently her "flag partner" was busy playing with his new PSP to come help her get the flag.
I might not be a patriot but I can tell when someone is taking things I consider sacred for granted. If I could have joined any branch of the armed forces I would have. Unfortunately.. they won't take asthmatics.
