And go and get your own avatar!

Or at least paint it green, no blue...

I've been trying to pull pictures of my shaved 14 bolt off my camera for 2 days.......Kodak software issues.......that better?

no, that one just makes me jealous :mad2: :mad2:

I need to figure out my camcorder, I should be able to download the pics to my computer (have a card now) I haven't bothered hooking it up, cuz I'm not ready to dump the movies on it, hard drive is full, donwanna buy a new 'puter right now.

So, after driving my sister's YJ, it makes me wanna have a jeep with a real frame. Do you have a thread on the overall build up of your rig? What springs are you running? What drivetrain? didja decide on shackle placement?

Thread to come. I've got some pics on my camera......{you'd think an IT guy could figure out some software }. I'm putting the shackles forward, running 2.5" YJ springs at about 101-102" wheelbase (thinking about some Waggy springs, but I'll get it running how it is and go from there. That's a nice wheelbase from my experience), GM D60/14 bolt (both shaved as far as I dare). Suburban TBI 350, 700R4, 241. It's mostly a trail rig as my 'commute' is only 12 blocks.

Dude, that is the essence of brutal and simple and effective. Love it!!! I didn't hear you mention a ladder bar...or tire size/type...or steering mods...

That thing is gonna rock!!!

Hmmm, running waggy 44044's, you could leave the mounts in all the same places, and just by positioning the springs get 98" wheelbase. Run the typical longer bent shackles and it would be perfect. Oh, I'm guessing that you're outboarding your front springs, that's why the shackle question. I get it.

Just needs an extra row of seats.

THAT WOULD MAKE IT COOL!!! I'd bet I've almost got enough frame for that too.

Ladder bar(s), steering are being thought of as I go along, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it linked up over the next few years.

waggy 44044 on a YJ = a 4" lift spring...put that SOA and you have a very tall jeep...I think marc is talking about stock waggys, they will be about level with the 2.5" lift springs he has right now. his wheel base is already stretched about 8" (maybe more if he moves the front forward more), and if he runs the waggy pack he already has he will gain anoth two inches:D that will be a very sweet Jeep when he's dont with it:cool:

Ok, cuz stock waggy's on a CJ is about 1.5", right? and 44044's are 4" or so? I've got 44044's on the back and stock waggy's on the front, soa on mine, sits just a little tail high, which I like.

I'm sticking with the YJ lift springs for now. Putting the front shackle mount as far forward as possible. The springs are on the axle as of last night (boy, I need to hook up my shop compressor and use an impact). I'm measuring, measuring, remeasuring, repositioning the axle (that thing is HEAVY), measuring, measuring, measuring, where's my square?, repositioning the axle (Did I mention that thing is HEAVY?), measuring, measuring, etc.

My wife is trying to help me decide what color to paint it .......at least she's getting more and more involved.

I dont know about on a CJ (dont know why they would be different than a YJ) but the waggys are supposed to be about 2" for a YJ. I could see though a variance of atleast an inch (1.5"-2.5") because most dont put brand new springs on, they find JY springs. The 44044 are a 2" (or 2.5" cant remember right now) lift spring for a waggy.

this topic will never die

pros and cons both ways I guess, just a thought we were wheelin rs/con yesterday met up with some guys in built heeps/buggies. One dude, successfully cracked his tranny tailhousing and pulled apart his driveline because he had a SR with too little slip in the driveline.

I think that SF gets better traction in the front. I did a totally custom front suspension and chose to go shackle forward.
