I just finished up an amazing trip over the Canning Stock Route as a team member on the Expeditions7.com endeavor. We drove 1800kms without passing any other travelers along the route, we passed a single caravan of local natives near the end of the route, other than that we were literally days away from any other group

I'll have a full trip report similar to that of my Russia trip report when I can back in the states and caught up with life but in the meantime I figured it was time for some eye candy :D

I can't get enough of those shots! I'll bet it was a surreal experience. Looking forward to the video. Those poor video editors.

They film from helicopters for a living, last I heard they were at the 5TB range on footage ;)

Lead video guru is Bruce Dorn, extremely well known, Canon sponsored, has done filming all over the globe. He has cameras worth more than Land Cruisers :D

Poor guys, flying around in helicopters all day, filming remote areas of the world. I knew I should have gone to film school. :D

They hardest part is dealing with a bunch of rambunctious Cruiserheads, the Outback is easy until you have us to deal with :D

Check out some of Bruce's YouTube work here:

Be sure to check out his other video's too!

wow man! SOOO JEALOUS!

I'm excited to share the pictures and story's when I return. It has been an absolute adventure but also an amazing amount of work too, both leading up to the trip and preparing the Sherpa II as well as the driving we do. Due to 4 hour bog we had to push through the night to get a couple of the team members to a remote village so that they could fly out. We ended up driving for two days straight through the night, taking turns keeping an alert driver at the wheel. This while navigating over-grown tracks, insanely nasty washboard and mud and claypan. Adventure :D

Here I am with the resident mechanic of the outback town Kunawarritji. Alby is a Romanian immigrant that specializes in bush repairs in the middle of nowhere. We had a bracket rip off our fuel filler neck which exposed a dime size hole. This not only leaked precious fuel (~$15/gallon out there) but it also could let dirt/debris in. Alby brazed it using a chunk of brass from a Land Cruiser radiator that had been crushed in a roll-over. Good as new!

I've been following you through JP and Greg as well. You need to find a gold boulder next to your rig as well Kurt. The trip looks like the dream trip of all true LC lovers. Drive safe and have fun. No more tickets down under this time. LOL

No expedition is complete without your own helicopter film crew. Amazing experience. Exp7 is definitely a world class adventure.

The footage is going to be spectacular

Bruce is our embedded camera man, so he can go from strapped on a roof rack to strapped in a helicopter at a moments notice. While Bruce shoots video and still shots, both Greg and Scott are talented photographers as well. I'm horrid so it works out well, I drive while they do their magic :D

Kurt, have you ever thought of putting a trip group together (for profit) that want to go experiences the "Toyota Porn" in person, and pay extra to touch or have the girl friend experience? If you have I am in! I am serious. I bet you could put a trip together and charge handsome fee's to make it worth your time to take groups over for trips.

P.S. I signed your non-compete form... Remember the HOA ideas. :D

Australia is very expensive to travel, i.e. a can of Coke is $3 and fuel is up to ~$15/gallon in the remote places.

HOA? Remind me what we were talking about there. As a funny side note, one of my routines on road trips and big adventures is to brainstorm crazy/funny business ideas with my traveling companions and jot them down in my travel journal. From Baja for example we took home 20-25 funny yet often practical business venture ideas and I'm up to another dozen from my travels in Australia. On a more serious note myself and a few partners have spent a very considerable amount of time investigating, planning and logistificating (yes, my new word) the idea of a 4x4 tour outfit in Utah that offers an Aussie like experience without the $5000 airfare and accommodations... let alone the 4x4 hire, food, fuel, etc. We are 95% ready to roll out, but you can't quit your day-job (or skip big trips) to roll-out something that may or may not work in the long run. I have no doubt we can make it work for some years and cater to a neat group of clientele but the same additional effort pointed at my current endeavors would likely produce a greater end result. Long story short, I have too many irons in the fire and need to hire people to help me out. :D

I'm very, very lucky and grateful to be part of such an extraordinary and unique trip with such fantastic people. I can't thank Greg, Scott and team enough for including me in what is bound to be history making trip. I'll touch more on that in my official E7-Australia trip report when the adventure ends... I've still got 2500 kms and 1.5 weeks to go :D To bring this full circle, this is one of our fill-ups in a remote area, factor in the weak US dollar and you'll see that Expeditions7 is a remarkable adventure that is no light undertaking.
