Tonight I had a couple hours on it and got the shock hoops bent and notched. I’ve battled in my mind over how to do these for a couple months and I’m glad I decided on this route. It was more work than a couple other ways but should be worth it. I should be able to get them all lined up and burned in next time I work on it. Then I’ll brace them.
It's amazing what a difference a couple hours can make when you take advantage of the time. Your buggy is coming along nice, it's great to see your progress and read how you've worked thru all the packaging issues thus far. Keep it up and thanks for sharing!

I meant what I said in my text- it's taller than Heather on the 3/4 ton with my driveway slope. Dropping it on the stand and taking it off was nnnnnneat...I did get a good workout though, it's like a rowing machine but for men.
Got the other hoop in place, made sure they were angled the same and then got ‘em partially welded on.
Then moved to upper shock tabs since I already had the lowers ready. I made a set and tacked them on. Time to cycle and make sure everything clears. All the up(4”):
Only 5” (out of 10”) down since I don’t want to figure out how to do it the rest of the way.
Everything looks mint and clears great so now to duplicate on the other side.
I could’ve had that done tonight but my 10 y/o wanted help putting together one of those wooden Lowe’s cars that he got for his b-day. I was reluctant at first but gotta soak up time with him before he thinks I’m lame.

Shocks are mounted in time for me to have dinner with the fam and some friends. I call tonight a win!
While it was all tacked I messed with the driver side since it’s light and I can move it by hand. Everything clears great. This is 12.5” of shaft showing so there’s another 1.5” but you have to push to get there so no pic of it. It’s pretty awesome though!

Today I got the cross-bar in and the rear supports.
Obviously the cross-bar would be strongest up where the shocks are mounted but I didn’t want that for a few reasons. For one, I hate the look, a lot and this way it’s out of the way for all of the crap I’ll be putting in there and it boxes in the rear storage area nicely. I have no doubt it will be strong enough when I’m done but if it’s an issue I’ll change it later. Also, the cross-bar and the front and rear supports are inline with the main chassis tube so they blend in, especially being 1.25” tube. That was important to me for whatever reason.
I was glad to get the rear supports to tie into that dead tube. The notches aren’t perfect but I messed with them for way too long considering once I hit them with the metal glue gun it won’t be noticeable anyways. I need to figure out how I want to continue that node into the rear part of the chassis. Maybe some 1” tube. We’ll see.
