It's very white here. Snow and sky are nearly indistiguishable in the same subdued winter light. The few rocks poking through provide valuable information as to terrain, but it is woefully incomplete, and totally inadequate for seeing where the road is.
The work here is very slow-paced. I take a walk over to the shakers about once an hour, and empty a small coffee can into a strainer, wash out the mud, and take the resulting rocks inside. Takes less than 5 minutes. It's very quiet here. In Wyoming, engineers and drillers and tool pushers want to talk to you. Here, I haven't spoken to anyone but the mud engineer, and that's only because he drops the mud report off for us. And since my company laptop hasn't been delivered, there is nothing for me to even log. Luckily, the internet connection here is excellent, and there are some decent shows on DirectTV. WEC cagefighting is on right now, and later Dakar Rally Highlights. Woot!
The weather here has been unusually mild, very sunny, very warm. Mushy here, due to all the pre-existing snow. It got cloudy here about an hour ago, and it is currently snowing a little in dead calm conditions.
Tomorrow I must brave the sketchy, twisty, precipitous road again to venture to the Post Office and WalMart for supplies and some Fig Newtons. It is my earnest hope that something interesting will happen. The other guy here told me that one of the brewers at the pub here used to work at one of my favorite places to get a beer and some food in Rochester, NY: the Dinosaur BBQ. So perhaps I'll stop by and see if we've already met.
That is all for now. Exciting, wasn't it? At least I'm getting paid for this.
