The weekend...

We went up into the mountains and it was GREAT! Took a ride in the Bronco, had a picnic with the whole fam and looked at some petrified wood. Exciting...then we ran into a wheeling compadre and ran up to an old mine site and played around. Life was pretty terrific until a honkin' ass rain cloud came our way and we don't have any windshield wipers. Fortune smiled upon us though in the form of raw V8 muscle and we out ran that lil' bugger! Here's a pic or two for your viewing entertainment...:D

Look, it's a really old log that has been fossilized, BUT it's nearly impossible to get to! -_-

Yup, lots of pics... but they are all on my wife and sister in laws cameras, mine stayed in the console all weekend . As soon as I get some pics I will upload them to my site and post a trip report :D

It was nice to escape the valley heat. Our high point was right around 10,800 ft, we camped last night at 10,264 ft... nice an chilly :D

Nice  I'm headed down there this next weekend. Ephraim canyon, and a little trip down into cove lake.

We ran into all sort of road construction...

The dirt road between Strawberry Res. and Snake Creek (SF Canyon) had some road construction... the "closed" signs had been moved aside so we gave it a go... sure enough the construction crew had patched it back together for the weekend and moved all the heavy equipment off the road.

The road was also closes at the trailhead for Skyline Drive South (Fairview Canyon)... this time the road said "No Tresspassing"... not wanting to piss anyone off nor present a bad image... we detoured into Fairview and went up Spring City Canyon (name??) instead.

It was pretty crowded up there... I love the terrain, the cool weather, and the scenry... but there are alot of places in Utah that offer similar traits without the crowds. 5th wheels & camper trailers at every turnout, tons and tons of OHV's, you couldn't throw a rock in the northern section without hitting someone. The southern portion was better.. we had just one other group camping near Blue Lake... they came late, had a fire (major fire restrictions didn't apply to them ;)) and left early. I think my next trip will be exploring more of the southern area, Manti Canyons, etc.

Yeah, I don't really care for Spring City canyon, or Mt. Pleasant canyon for that matter. Ephraim canyon has sooo much history with the Great Basin Experiment Station, Alpine Station, and lots of little places only the locals know;)

Manti canyon is a nice place to see as well. Milky Falls in Manti canyon is cool.
