The 'What did I replace or fix on my motorcycle' thread

Rode my bike today til I hit snow. Half way through the ride my speedo stopped working. Got home, figured out it was a crack in the wire. Fixed that so it's working again. Then pressure washed the bike. Got it all clean for the weekend. Then a kid called and wanted to check my bike out. He came over, rode it, made an offer, and he wants to pick it up tomorrow. I'm trying to stall the sale til after firebirds. Hard to turn down an offer after you put 55 hours, 1100 miles on a bike and you still make $50. ;)

Also cleaned the yfz450 off when another kid called to look at it. He liked it and took it home. Woohoo!

haha, awesome. So, you joining the 300 crew then? :D I remember when I had my 300 and you said you'd never get one because you liked the 4T :)

I want to join the 300 club. Not for any particular reason. I just don't want a 450 and I want more power than a 250. I've thought of a 350 also but can't come to a conclusion.

Mmi think I actually remember saying that I wouldn't get one Caleb. But I had also just sold my 02 250 2t so that was how I was thinking all 2 strokes were. But I have ridden yours and it's totally different. I just wish I had like $1000 more so I could get whatever I wanted.

 I'm only giving you crap. I'm actually the same way, I said I'd never own a 2T and then I got my 300 and enjoyed every minute of it. Then I got my 500 and every time I would ride it I'd tell myself I'll never have another 2T...it was just too much fun. Now I'm looking at 2Ts again

I didn't fix or repair anything on my bike but I did replace the entire bike with a '13 300. ;)wish me luck at Firebirds today. I'm in unfamiliar territory on a 2t. Nervous!

Good luck! I'm interested to see how you like the 2t. Xc or xcw?

It's so different. Lots of power but weird. I felt liked was riding a gear higher. But I am also used to the wide ratio on my last 4 bikes. This is just the xc. Openly had one good crash because of the bike. Came in hot to a corner, let off the gas, and went right over the edge. That was the only corner I forgot about not having engine braking. I had a lot better start than with my 250 4t. It was nice not having the dust. I didn't really notice the vibrations. I think once I get the suspension dialed and have the sag set for me it'll be money. I felt like the forks were working good but that the shock wasn't working well with the forks. But that can be fixed. The 300 lugs like crazy which is nice cause I felt like my 250 could tractor over anything. I need bar risers and a higher bend bar. Couldn't stand straight comfortably which in turn made me sit a lot more than I wanted or should. I think once I get the suspension set and figure out the different gearing and power range the 300 will be money. Happy with the purchase so far.

Sorry if this is jumbled and doesn't make sense or is repetitive. Been up since 5 and I'm delirious.

Got my new Cycra handguards installed today. It's always nice when something fits perfect and bolts right up. Plenty of clearance from my levers too which will be nice. On my last bike I trimmed my throttle tube a little too much and my hand was kind of squished on there.

I should have taken some pictures of the process, but I took a used 21" moose and installed it in the front tire on my boys 65 tonight. To get it to fit, I took a razor and cut a V notch all the way around it on the inside. This cut enough mass out of it to squeeze it into the tire and cut a section out to fit the diameter. Overall, it was not to bad to install.

I put Harrison's new Clark tank on. Differences between the Acerbis that I noticed.....Acerbis was even yellower than this one. The Acerbis seemed to be narrower. The Acerbis came with a new petcock already installed. The Acerbis used the factory bolts to bolt to the frame where the Clark came with longer bolts. With the Clark, you had to use your stock petcock. The plastics fit fairly easily on the Clark but it was a pain to get the two holes lined up to mount to the frame. I had to get a pry bar to get it pushed down and in far enough to get the bolts to line up.

Was the Clark worth the extra $30? Nope, it ended up being almost as yellow anyway. My friend that has a Clark on his son's bike is not nearly as yellow as the Clark I got. Who knows.

I asked Harrsion again last night if he was ready for a Rekluse and he said he could ride it without just fine. He still says he will be a better rider in the long run if he uses a clutch. I have to agree with him. Last ride out to Dead Cow and the Tubes, he only stalled it 3 times all day. I stalled more on my WR than he did.

He wanted black rims but he was wondering why a lot of them are all scratched up. I told him we could spray the plastic dip stuff on it to see how he liked it and we would keep an eye out for some black ones to show up for a good price. I like the black, we will see how well they hold up until he decides if he wants real black rims. He masked them all off and I squirted them.

Nice, FWIW, Clarkes are usually lower end than Acerbis, IMS, etc tanks. So it doesn't surprise me to hear your tank color is different than one in another run. Also, the Clarkes sometimes flip on the petcock which makes it a pain (the Clarke on the WRs is like that). Should still be a good tank though.

Last time I took my CR500 out I completely lost rebound dampening in the forks. Today I pulled both forks apart to find the rods were unthreaded from the top caps------uh ya. Makes sense but I'm not quite sure how that happens

Just picked up some new bars and grips and a few other minor things. Turns out I'm a frequent shopper at rmatv and my order was practically free. Sweet!!!

I went with the pro taper evo bars. I went with the windham bars. I had them on my last bike and they were comfortable and fit me well. The windham is the highest bend for those bars. I gained 2.5 inches in total height with a 1/4" spacer. It feels a million times better. It'll save my back on this 100 mile race.
