Thinking about buying a MINI

Obviously, not a fan of the Libby, Scion, or Mini. I will admit to being both a fan of Honda and Toyota though.

My point I guess is, there's a big difference between a good commuter car, and a really fun car. You can commute in a fun car if you wish, but be preparred to pay the price. The Mini is way overpriced for what you get, and the maintenace is through the roof. Then again, I choose to commute in an XLR because I like the fun aspect of it.

If you want a commuter, the Mini or Tacoma really isn't it. Get a Corolla or Civic or something like that. The commute savings alone would go a long way to getting that Libby back to reliable, if you really feel you must keep it.

And you are....?

Since I poked my head in here, I suppose I'll weigh in with something relevant... :D

How about some kind of turbocharged VW? Gas or diesel, you choose. With your CRD Libby and your diesel lust, a TDI would fit right in.

I drove an ex-gf's gasoline turbo Golf and that thing was a blast up in the canyon! Even my TDI Jetta is pretty fun, even more now that it's been turned up with a tuning box. :greg: Economy and fun, makes for a great daily driver. I used to hate small cars, especially VW's... until I owned one. Funny for me to say this, but I love my little Jetta.

You'd be surprised how well the TDI's move, if you haven't driven one. I love driving mine to Denver, over Vail & Eisenhower Pass... it goes right over, when other cars are struggling. Since you're a 'tuner' you could go crazy with tuning the engine for a sh*t-load of torque, lower it, bigger sway-bars, sportier wheels & tires, etc. For economy, wheel & tire changes suck, but 35 MPG is still pretty good.

Yeah, my TDI Jetta just got a new timing belt... damn thing, next time it needs to be changed, the car will be hitting 300k miles. I'm just waiting for it to blow up any time now. :cody:

yeah, but that's a CAR, not a Jeep. :cody:

TDI Jetta, btw, is second on Tara's list of vehicles she'd like, only because Subarus are AWD. :(
