I know, I know, you literalist!

I'm proud of the Russian Christian Underground. The Gulag wasn't a happy prospect if they got caught. And really, it's proof of the intrinsic inability of Communism to ever win, anywhere. :D

That's not correct. The Soviet Union was officially an atheistic state, but the Russian people have historically been deeply religious, hence the Russian Orthodox Church. Even though the USSR tried very hard to oppress religion, they where never successful. By the time Khrushchev came to power in the mid-50's the practice of religion was illegal but tolerated. When Gorbachev became Premier in 1985 and the beginning of his policies of Гла́сность (Glasnost or openness) the practice of religion was officially allowed in the USSR. With the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, ironically on Christmas Day, the newly formed Russian Federation officially renounced all Soviet policies regarding religion. Early in the 1990's the Russian Federation began transferring ownership of churches that had been confiscated during the Soviet era back to the Russian Orthodox Church.
Today religion is very much alive in Russia and the Church is one of the most powerful organizations in the country.

(Yeah... I'm full of useless information :D)

Since Barry was born a Muslim, and has (seemingly) become a Christian, that makes him an Apostate according to Islamic law. Therefor, he will be hunted everytime he leaves the country. I just see Barry sitting down with Ackmedinanutjob and getting blown to bits.

Seriously, Barry is going to ruin this country if given a chance, well, if he survives.

OK, let me explain. He was born to a Muslim father, therefor he was born Muslim. Yes, he goes to church. These are facts. I didn't even mention hotmail, didn't suggest he was a radical. I read Snopes a lot.

Accordinh to Islamic law, a child born to a Muslim father is a Muslim. If that child (male or female), choses another faith, that person is an Apostate and as such is to be KILLED.

You know me better than that Brian... I show you the bottom of my shoe...

Someone mentioned his church, yea he loves America, that's why he supported a Preacher for 20 years who believes all of us white men are the cause of his peoples suffering. (blacks) Reverand (I use the term loosly) Wright is a POS in my book. Making money off other Blacks by spreading hate and discontent. Giving them someone to blame for their own problems. Obamma supported them, donated to them, and said Amen to his retoric. That isn't Christianity or any better to me than being Muslim.

It seems a little off topic now, but I play hockey with a bunch of Canadiens and a couple of Russians, and I asked them while we were skating this morning and apparently all the Russian god wants is an unlimited supply of potatoes, and the extinction of the Canadiens. They might be a part the minority religion or something though...

I think it's sad that someone has to exclaim their loyalty to any religion or god for that matter, in oreder to get elected. Even if he was Muslim, the extremists of that religion make up a very small percentage of the entire group, but get 99% of the publicity. It's just like the idiot's that are destroying and polluting the trails that we use and getting them shut down. They are a minority in the sport, but get 99% of the media coverage.

Also, Reverend Wright. Look at all of the media coverage that jackass is getting as a Christian. Do you think the muslim world looks at him as a minority in the christian community? And the Osama-Obama comment, your late to the party. Rush and Hannity have been trying to hammer that home since the guy got elected to the senate. That Graph thing that was posted up here a while ago about where you actually lean was great, and a good example of where the majority of the country stands. I'm looking forward to this election because I think there are positives to both candidates. I think Obama's inexperience is actually a plus, because he is going to be forced to surround himself by experienced people. When and if he fills his cabinet, that will be when the policies will take shape, and it brings me great comfort to know how distanced he is from the Clintons in this reguard. And I like McCain because I think he is for the most part genuine guy, who is willing to work outside of party lines to get things done. And it doesn't hurt my opinion that the hard core conservatives don't like him because he is not conservative enough for them. Unfortunately that goes against him for losing support from his base, so I think Obama has a better shot at winning.

Inexperience led us to where we are now. I voted for W because I couldn't stand Algore, I was still on active duty and felt I was voting for my paycheck. Sure Algore was in the military, as a journalist. I respect that. Later I again voted for W because Kerry can't make up his mind on anything. I still try hard not to buy Heinz products... W surrounded himself with experienced people. And look at the mistakes they made too.

Mrs. Clintoon isn't any more experienced just because she slept in the White House. But she is a communist as far as I'm concerned. I've known military people that had the misfortune of working around her and as a single voice they feel she would be bad in the White House.

Obama makes my skin crawl. Not because of his name or his color. He can't talk away from a tele-prompter and make sense. His association with KNOWN domestic terrorists makes him dangerous (I won't question his religion or faith, but will question his choice of a church and pastor). Seriously, he made a comment about having been to 57 states and he thought he like one more to go. Media gave him a pass on that. 57 states? He needs to go back to 1st grade... He talks a lot about change, but nothing substantive.

McCain. I have a great deal of respect for the man for his military service and as a POW. His service in the Senate? I'm not impressed. But, he will likely get my vote.

It would be nice to have real choices for a change. Not have to vote for who you can stand the most. At the very least, history will be made. Either the first man of color, or a woman, or the oldest man ever to run will win.

One thing I learned about politics a very long time ago. Hang your emotions aside when you start getting into it. Makes it a lot easier to figure out WHO you wouldn't mind having sit and your kitchen table and have a beer with.

The other day I heard Obama say he would appoint supreme court justices who would, "legislate" from the bench. What happened to seperation of powers in the constitution? That is not what they are for! This fires me up because it is a blatent attack on our Constitution and very few of us give a hoot.

I hope more people educate themselves, figure out whatever it is that they stand for, and do whatever thay can to make it better. Whether I agree with them or not. I still think Obama over Clinton is a better choice, but comments like that are hard to take. Usually you have to look at more than just one line of the conversation to get the correct context of what was said. McCain has been hammered for making the comment on meet the press that he thinks we should stay in iraq for 100 years. What he actually said is that in area's like this where conditions are most likely going to be unstable for a long time, a military presence is not only neccessary but wise. And if it takes 100 years then so be it. I paraphrased that but that was the context, and the Democrats just pounded the point home. It happens both ways, and if you only get your info from one source, you'll never get the whole story. We will never have a candidate that everyone likes or agrees with. I disagree with Mccain on MOST of the issues to tell you the truth. Do I think that will make him a bad president? absolutely not. I really like him. Not because I agree with him, but I think he stands up for what he thinks is right. And the previous comment about voting for W who was inexperienced and got us into this mess with an experienced cabinet, I think that is a good example of how polarized our political system has become, and how the bases have pushed eveyone so far to the left and right that we are left with candidates that really don't reflect the values of the majority of the country, who is left to vote for the lesser of 2 evil's.
