I figure if I start this thread hopefully some one with some picture will post some up!!

A few of us got together yesterday and headed out to "The Snakes". Had a great time, got to meet some great guys! It felt good to get back out on the trail, even if it was in a Jeep.

This is the only picture I got before I shut my phone off to preserve the battery for the drive home.

Headed up the trail and got to the first small rock garden where we had our first break down of the day! I believe it was Dempsey who bent his drag link. Really we had a pretty good day, no break down that couldn't be at least band-aided. Brett had his fair share of minor glitches but that's how things go right?! Got to Wayne's World and had to have a couple Toyota drivers help pull Brian up, then Nash walked up it like it was nothing!

No problems through Wolverine, Britneys Box, or The Fang. Had to pull a couple guys up over Radiator Rapids. This is where I really felt like I'm growing as a wheeler. With the help of a couple great spotters I was able to get my open front and rear TJ on 33s up over the rapids with no strap! Then we watched Nash turn his all the way side ways and try to lay it over
 But he calmed her down and was able to reset his line and climb up through (his little boy sleeping through the whole thing). Brady in his "special" AWD 4runner did pretty well to, had to pull him up through the rapids, but he made a good honest effort and made it pretty far.

Had a great time with these guys and look forward to hit more trails with them soon.

If any of you guys have any pics POST 'EM ON UP!!

Our group of 7 vehicles headed out for a nice day of adventure. It is always fun to go 'wheeling when Brian and Kevin are both present, because the smack talk is constant. We weren't even out of the Chevron parking lot before Kevin was giving Brian a hard time for his lousy CB output.

Since I had one niece with me, I wanted to put on a good show. When we got to the Rattlesnake's rock garden and Brian took the high line to the right, well, I knew I had to follow him. While I was maneuvering to do so, I was dismayed when my drag link... bent. In case anyone forgot, this was the shiny new drag link I had just installed Tuesday night, and I hadn't even gone 6 miles with it yet.

(New life rule: no matter how easy or familiar the trail you're going to run, if you own a trailer, use it.)

I had to back off the obstacle and onto flat ground. I made a big adjustment to the drag link adjustment sleeve to try and provide sufficient steering in both directions, then I also adjusted the tie rod's adjustment sleeve until both front wheels were more-or-less pointed in the same direction.

In the middle of my field repair, I was surprised when a group of perhaps 10 JKs pulled up behind us. They were a tour group of sorts from Miller Motorsports Park, here to show off Michelin tires to a group of lecture students or something. I'm sure they were just as surprised to see us as we were to see them; after all, a weekday morning isn't exactly a peak traffic time on the Snakes. At any rate, they got to stand around and wait while I blocked the road to fix my Jeep. :)

We checked my completed repair work. Based on Kevin's string measurement, my tires were pretty close to parallel... so I decided to continue on with the group and take it easy. I remained a spectator at Wayne's World, of course. Since I was near the back of the pack, I decided not to bother with Radiator Rapids, either. It sure was giving us a hard time today.

I had a good time and my niece gained a significant appreciation for what a 4WD vehicle can do. Thanks to everyone who made it out.

It was a really good turn out for a weekday morning and a really fun group to wheel with even if Toyota's are involved(including the toyota drivers that helped pull me up WW)

Good times for sure, always a pleasure wheeling with you all. Nash's XJ gets it done, I like that truck. If I get turned back at Radiator Rapids one more time though, I'm going to have to get a front locker in self defense.

Driving at the back works great for us. Stopping at all the obstacles and watching other rigs hit stuff gives the little guy time to be a rock crawler (you probably heard him or saw him climbing rocks "RRRRRREEEERRRR") and wear himself out. I put him in his seat, he naps then I get to have a little fun myself.

Just play boss! It's hard to compare a TJ to a 4runner. 2 completely different rigs with with differant capabilities. I was amazed at what that short wheelbase would let me do. I still would have rather been in my locked 4runner any day of the week!
