I run blue Krawlers and love them. They do burp air :

I was surprised you were still holding a bead last Sunday :ugh:

A simple part of this solution, I suppose is some on-board air.

It was good to have mike spot my rears burping, I thought it was just a steering issue on passenger front. Apparently the iroks side walls were all rolled/twisted out of shape on the outsides, and hence burping on the insides.

This after I aired down to about 6 on the back and 7 on the front - from 10. They don't burp as bad at 10, but I have fought this burping with the iroks as well.

Interco TSL SX's go to at least 38.5's...My dad runs that size tire, but that is with 15" wheels, not sure if they make them in 17".

Could it be maybe your paticular tire and wheel combo. There was an article a while back in petersons I think that was a write up on the new pitbull something or other. And they had a bad air burping problem when on the pro comp aluminiulmiulmnnmnmnm wheels. But when they switched wheels there was no more issue. They concluded that some tire and wheel combos just don't work well at lower psi.
But then again I am usually full of crap. and I only have 60HP.

actually I'm afraid there is truth to this issue, painful part for us amateur recreational users … we can not afford the trial/error combinations. I suppose I can only blame myself for not doing enough research … but then again you have to have some trust and dive in somewhere.

It was the inside bead that was contorting and then burping

I run blue Krawlers and love them. They do burp air and definately seem more succeptable to sidewall damage than my old MTRs did. Light slices but no punctures and have not lost a bead. I bought the warranty from 4wheelparts so for me, the sidewalls are moot.

I will be building my rig for 40s over the winter and have pondered the same question Timp.

Tim's comp compound creepys are awesome! Tim also said that these will be his last set as they were quite expensive to have to replace after one season. We made couple of runs while he was in Utah and they were already showing noticeable wear. He's switching to krawlers when the time comes. Traction was unmatched though. You can buy a regular compound if all else fails. (rumor is maxxis is working on a more affordable black label that will be sticky as well)

For my application, I think Krawlers are the way to go. They can be had new from $1800.00-$2000.00 shipped and offer really good traction and don't wear as quickly.

Anything will be better than swampers:greg:

I really really dig my CreepyCrawlers!! They are the tires to get without question. But there are two issues with them 1. Availibility. 2. Price. With that said, I think these might be my last set. I will try to get another set for next season and beyond, but I think that might be an unrealistic goal. I will settle for 39.5 Krawlers if I have too.

I might have to whore myself out on State St to get another set of Creepys but I guess after my trip to Iraq, I might be able to afford another set....

Seth has a set of 40" creepys in his showroom you may want to take a look at.

i dont think so...not even close

Based on my observations, nobody runs them back home in the SE because they suck in the mud. I have yet to see them work well in rocks of Utah. They suck for a DD. The only redeeming quality they offer is price. IMHO, you get what you pay for.

Lasty. Like thornbirds, they just look goofy. The only Interco products I have or will run are the M&H racemasters.

The only thing about iroks that I don't care for is the seemingly flimsy side wall. Other than that I've seen them grab on to some stuff and go. Turn the direction tread backwards for a little extra love.

That said, I like what I've seen out of Maxxis tires but I do love my SX's.

You guys know you can get any swamper made with a sticky compound right? They just need a certain number per batch to be made like 40-50 tires and the price I think is about 50 bucks a tire more. They have had some reviews on pirate of some 42x14x17 irok stickies and they are holding up good for stickies in rock racing and grip like mad:greg: There is hope Chad

I do have them mounted backwards right now, and Meat will have to agree .. right after turning them around, they did a true, slow crawl of waynes world, hard left line on bottom ledge and simply crawled over the second ledge.

Iroks are a much sweeter flavor of suck when they are running backwards.

hahaha.

The smaller irok's seem to do pretty well. the 42's I've seen just like to load up and bounce around. Too balloony. I guess that goes with any big useless tire though.
