I run 18psi in my 33x14x15 Boggers and they are on 10" wide beadlocks. I have good a very tread contact pattern at that psi and it rides as well as one would expect while running boggers on the street :D

a zuk should NEVER be above 25 PSI....if you are running bias ply, probably never higher than 15-18

do the chalk trick.

Draw a line fo chalk side to side on all four tires then drive your rig 2 or three blocks IN A STRAIGHT LINE WITHOUT TURNING EVEN A LITTLE BIT, then look at the chalk...if you still see chalk on the outter shoulder of the tread, lower your pressure until you get a flat contact pattern. There was a write up on this last year in a 4x4 rag...maybe you could find it on the net somewhere...I am too lazy...

is the point of that to get a better footprint, or contact area?

does it do damage if your higher than 25 or something? just curious

The point is to get better tire wear. If the tire is overinflated only the middle of the tread will touch the road, and it will wear out quickly, while leaving the tread on the outer edges unworn. With the chalk method you can actually see what parts of the tread are coming in contact with the pavement. Chalk not worn off means that part of the tire did not touch the road.

My sami w/33" MT/R's are usually at 30psi. I run this pressure when I drive a long distance (2hrs+) or I am going somewhere there is alot of uphill driving. Around town I like to run 20psi. The comfort level is so much better. With 30 the tires are alot harder and easier to roll down the road. I could care less about tire wear. They get chewed up anyway on the rocks. On a sami I don't think you need to worry too much about tire wear. I've been running the same tires for 2 years and they still have plenty of tread on them, and I bought them used.

I run about 25 in the rear and 30 up front, just because the rear is lighter than my front. Gives it a bit of a smoother ride.
I used to run 35, but it was just way rough and bouncy.

On the trail, everyone tells me that without beadlocks I should run anywhere from 10-12... I run about 11 just to be in the middle.

I run about 24-25 on the street and about 8 in the rear on the trail and 11 in front to help the D30 live.....{no beadlocks and I've yet to lose a bead}

Spence and SuperGper have it right. An even easier way is to simply drive through a gravel/dirt parking lot. Keep the tires straight like Spence said, and you can see what is and what is not in contact.

If the shoulders are not in contact, then lower your pressure. I would start this exercise at 30 psi (almost sure to be overinflated on a sami). then drop your pressure by a couple of pounds each time until you get a good contact across the tread.

See, if you had beadlocks you could run 4psi on the trail and STILL never lose a bead!! ;) :D

well, i just took em down to 20psi...and it's alot harder to steer. i can feel tons more grip and traction on the road.
