Quick story. I had literally the second Polaris Xpedition in the state. We have loved it but with 2K miles on it the motor locked up while going from Monte Cristo to Bear Lake this last fall. I called my buddy at Youngs who I have personally spent a pile of money with over the years and recently just under $150K in the last 2 years alone. I bought a XP Pro 4, PRO R 4 and the Xpedition. Technically, my Xpedition was out of warranty by 6 months and he told me that I would have to call Polaris and fight for it. That didn't sit very well with me at all. I asked my buddy Todd who owns Wasatch Trailers who he would take it to. He said, hands down, Andy Checketts at North Star in Preston. I called Andy and he said to give him a few days to make a few calls. There were some other calls by me to Polaris with a list of names and matching VINS to backup of my story of who I have influenced to buy Polaris but at the end of the day, North Star really stepped up to the plate and now they have a customer for life. Wholesale value on just the motor is $5K on these things. Hell, you could buy a new 383 stroker for that kind of money. Anyway, 2 weeks later I have a new motor.
There was a bulletin on the first group of Xpeditions for a major bottom end oil leak. Mine had that. There is a big plastic skid plate that held all the oil in it so it never leaked on the floor. My first oil changes were at just under 500 miles and then at about 1,000 miles so I never really noticed it. I have had it over to Youngs a couple of times for service work for a knocking noise but they could never find it. At one point it was there for 2 months throwing parts at it.
Anyway, I am happy and still love the Xpedition.
