South Willow is pretty sweet. On the map at least, there are trails that run the length of the mountains, too. The Skull Valley side has some neat stuff as well.

It is pretty cool, I didn't go all the way up, but it seems like a great place to get lost for a day or more. It's definately a place I am going to go back to. Lots of camping areas and stuff to see.

I used to take the scouts out there camping alot. North Willow is also fun and has some old mine roads that are more challenging than South Willow.

It's a pretty canyon, but not challenging at all. The road ends at a developed campground that is frequented by scout troops. At the top of the campground, there is a hiking trailhead that heads into the wilderness area. I think there is a lake or two you can access on foot.

yeah, I didn't go for a challenge, I'd hear about the "narrows" and wanted to go see for myself. It was a nice drive. I saw South Willow lake on google earth and it would make for a nice hike sometime.

The trail that runs the length of the range is horse, moutain bike and motorcylce only. Most if it is not open to real vehilces. Most the roads that head up the canyons (North Willow, West Canyon, Davenport) don't go very far due to the wilderness areas, and the fact that it is a step range. Hickman goes further and is less maintained than South Willow, but still not a difficult drive. Can't remember if I ever post pics of it here or just on UOOC. Still need to explore Box Elder more than I have.

Very beautiful area, however.

Be carefull in the winter in the narrows area. Can ice up something fierce. Few years ago took a scout group up (in November) and ended up with the equipment trailer in the creek (happy to say I was not the one towing it).

Still need to hike to the lake and top of Deseret Peak.
