Torn tendons in Ankle

I did this in HS. Doc's said "stay off of it" There isn't anything they can do other than that.

It got really purple, and I couldn't put any weight on it for at least a week. Took I'd say 6 months before it was decently strong and another year or two until I felt like it was 100% and I didn't worry about it.

Hmm... I've screwed up my axle pretty bad in the past. Stay off it, keep it wrapped for strength when you need to get around. Definitely get a Dr's opinion.

This reminds me. Didn't we have a eye doctor hookup a while back? :greg:

I think Brett is an eye dr

dr schmocter. He's just going to tell you to stay off of it and give you a bill.

I went to the ER when it happened, cause I thought I broke it.
No fractures, but they could see seperated tendons in the Xray, just not enough detail to know exactly how many.
I haven't been able to stay off it like I should... I broke it moving, and I'm not done yet.

I'm keeping it iced and elevated while I'm at work, and keeping ice on it while I sleep. I war the brace constantly. I took it off to shower, and it does not feel or look right. I might just start bagging it to shower.
Not to sound completely panzy or anything, but I'm kinda scared of surgery, and I've got a bad feeling that I'm going to end up there for this. The deformation around the joint is freaking me out.

If it's getting that bad, you better go to the vet.

Surgery isn't that bad, but make sure you trust the guy/gal cutting you open.

I have messed up both ankles BAD a few times....now they are just sort of floppy. But it doesn't hurt when I roll them anymore:cool:
I tried PT, staying off it, ice, heat, electrodes....none of it did much, still floppy!
Get a GOOD brace, and good boots for "offroad." Stay off it as much as possible, but when I f'd up my left real bad, I didn't stay off it. When I did my right, I stayed off it for 2 weeks, did PT etc, and it is still just as bad as the left one.
Docs said they can go in a tighten things up, but I will only get 90% movement back at best and if I F them up again, then the tissue and tendons will just be stretched out again and thinner now....Let it heal and live with it:-\

The question is did they really say tendons or ligaments?
If it was truly tendons go to T.O.S.H. and get it taken care of. It is by Cottonwood Hosp.
If it is Ligaments keep it wrapped and braced and walk on it to strengthen them. Keep ice on it till it doesn't swell anylonger and then put heat and cold on it in the evenings....ICE TUB is the best but colder than HELL.

I injured a tendon on the outside of my ankle and it took about 3 years before the constant aching and stiffness went away.
