It's a done deal. I bought an 05 Dodge SLT, Cummins, auto with 63,000 miles for $19,000. I hate to see the Dakota go but I needed a better tow rig. I will post a couple pics when I take them. I know a lot of you said get the manual but I prefer the auto and it should easily hold up to my driving. I won't be putting many miles on it either.

Excellent choice! I had one of those and it was really a fabulous truck. Mine was an auto and we towed with it multiple times and did just fine. I think you'll be quite thrilled. :)

I will know what I think of how it tows next weekend when I go to the U4WD event. It will be a pretty flat drive though.

I put in for Constrictor or Mini Moab. This will only be the second time out since BHR finished it and I want to really test it and feel it out on difficult trails before running Fordyce and the Rubicon in September.

Cool, I just figured AF would give your Cummins a test ;)

FYI, (I'm not the guy keeping official track of it, but...) it looks like you got Constrictor for the convention.

Oh and I didn't see you're mpg edit... my last trip to Moab with a bone stock 24v '98 dually/auto with 9k in tow saw me 11.5 mpg doing 65~75 most of the way... I got the same milage in both directions

Thats a real good lookin' truck, congrats! It's going to pull like a dream, our '03 may be a bit problematic, but one thing it does well is pull a trailer. The brakes on the newest model Dodge are great too, you're going to be pleased the first time you tow with it.

AF would have been a good test. Believe it or not I towed the Jeep and 16FT car hauler to AF, Moab and Johnson Valley with the Dakota.

Thanks for letting me know which trail I am running. I would have registered by the 15th if I wasn't waiting to find if the girl friend wanted to go. I have a friend going with me. It should be a blast and the first time for me to attend.

Yeah AF is a lot steeper than most people think.... with that 9k in tow I couldn't keep the torque converter locked in 3rd gear from the cave to the power inlet dam.... when it was stock that is, with the chip on #2 it's no problem now.

I'll be on Con for one of the runs, don't know which I'll be on (or you for that matter)

Nice truck, that would be pretty easy to live with. Is that the 555 or the 600? I almost bought one ('05) but I chose to get a 3rd row of seats instead.

I thought they went from the 600 to the 610 in '05. They both put out 325 HP but the torque went from 600 to 610. I looked at the data plate and didn't see any 555, 600, or 610 any where on it so I am not sure.

It would have been a Ford if not the Dodge. I would have looked for a 2003 or older with 7.3 though. I agree with the comfort of the GMC and you can't beat the Allison trans but they are not for me.
