You might consider adding a truss like this--it will help keep the tubes from bending in relation to the pumpkin, anyway....

not much else to do but diamond housing, and maybe marlins 25mm pin up grade. maybe maybe instead of the wheel spacers, do a ifs hub body swap to get the extra width. " dont know if that would help much, since i have hade good luck with spacers myself"

also on a side note, does bobby warrentie his longs if you dont run a chromo hub gear?

I've heard rumours that he won't but I bought mine before he even came out with the chromo hub gear and he told me that they were no questions asked lifetime warranty , also I've busted longs and had him warranty them and he hasn't given me any problems so far

Diamond housings use stock outer ball assembles I believe, so you won't pickup any strength there. Crazy as I've never seen one of those bearing seats bend like that short of an auto accident...

Carl's right again

Sounds mostly beefy, other than the truss won't help much--Toy axles typically don't bend in the middle where the truss goes, they bend between the spring perch and the knuckle ball, or the ball itself bends. FROR makes gussets for the knuckle balls, the rest would be up to you to beef up.

Yup, here's where mine bent when it rolled:-\

I second the D60 idea. If your goin that hard your gonna need all the help you can get. Haha :D Plus the more welding you do on your axle the more likely it is to warp unless you take your time and go slow:)

I'm comming to the conclusion that no matter what I do, its going to bend. I've just got to limit myself from jumping the poor thing as much. but I need my 4runner to get me through another year of races til the buggy is done, and I can't justify throwing a 60 under my toyota... for some reason it seems dirty, slow and heavy.

I cut the "small" knuckle balls up to get the birfs out today. I got the new housing painted, I will post pics tomorrow.

All the welding I did was done in short sections, giving it time to cool before welding to much that would cause the housing to warp. (I've heard horror stories about this)

I love the idea of the trunion bearing eliminator, let us know how it holds up.

it was a hard choice between the marlin 25 mm bearings and the eliminaters but i think it will be stonger to get rid of the bearing all together. i do really like the bottom caps on the marlin kit, it seems more high clearance, and as you can see from my pictures, the bottom studs do catch and break.

heres the diff painted :D

Ha ha oh man, no back woods goop in this axle, just factory toyota rebuild parts and standard gear oil and axle grease(usually I actually like to use marine grease, just to have extra protection against water but I'm all out and I have a ton of normal grease) as a matter of fact trail gear sent me one of their chinese rebuilt kit which I promptly through away in favour of kurts

I wouldn't worry. I swear they come bent from the factory :D A jig would help immensely, but it's probably a little late for that.

No backwoodsgoop? bummer well I have contacted the Marlin Crawler operation and they are looking into to this so we will see, I was edified by their professional reaction when I informed them of what I see is the situation with these axles, at least they have a open mind to this possibility, and pointed out that they have a line on the specialty fluid that is used for cooling fan clutches so hopefully soon they with also have the specialty fluid for these knuckles,
