Toyota HELP!!!!

I have a 1985 toyota pick-up with fuel injection that I bought about a month ago. When I got it the engine was in the back and torn apart. I've got it back in now, but it's not turning over with the key. I can jump it across the starter and it turns over but I can't get anything from the key.
I'm not sure if I got all the wires plugged in the right plugs, like I said I got it already taken apart.
I don't really know what I'm looking for in this request, but I think that if I had the chance to look at an engine that is in and running that might help.
If there is anyone out there that thinks they might be able with to help with ideas or a model truck to look at, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Dylan.

Perhaps it's as simple as not having the right silenoid wire attacted to the starter....

Seems like there are three or so different connectors with the same style plug on that side of the block. I accidently hooked up my oil pressure sending unit plug to the solenoid once, and had the same problem

I'd check to make sure you have the right one plugged in. Hope this helps :)

Thanks Rot Box. The big problem ended up not being so big after all. When we hooked up the wires, we had the AC pump and the Starter mixed up. Had to flip the wires and she fired right up.
