I would like any advice on installing a steering box on my 84 toyota so I can install high steer. What year box would work, fabrication involved, etc. Thanks.

It's really not that hard. The two lower mounting holes go through the frame, which requires welding in sleeves. The upper needs brackets and a sleeve welded to the frame. The IFS pitman will need to be modified to fit a rod end, but several options are available. Above all, move it forward! I've stretched my front out 1" and would have liked to go further. If I could do it again, I'd notch out the radiator support, and extend the box an inch further forward. Talk to the Rocklogic boys, they know their stuff on this.

Dont just sleeve the frame and put a couple tabs on the top. Thats an easy way but not very strong if your going to have any serious pressure on it. Use a plate on at least the outside that covers all three mounting holes on it. then ad some holes for rosette welds along with the welds around the outer part of the plate. On the first one I did I put plates like these inside and outside of the frame but I think it was overkill. I just had the plate on the outside the second time and a tab on the inside with 1/2 inch ID tubing between them and inside the frame. Also the holes in the box are just a bit smaller than 1/2 inch so just bore them out to 1/2" before you start marking your holes on stuff. 86-95 IFS boxes will work. Dont be afraid to try it. this was the first "fabrication" project I did and it was no problem. The second time it only took a little over an hour.
