I hope this is the right forum. But is there any trails open in or close to Utah County?

- Rico.

I tried searching but didn't find anything.

There are several to chose from, some are now not accessible due to snow.
Harder would be Constrictor. easier would be Pony Express, Death canyon, and there is always Little Moab. or a drive up the back of Lake mountain with some snow....

Where is Lake Mountain? I've started driving my rig and I want to test it out but don't want to go too far.
(towing gets expensive the farther you are :D )

No, It's a turn-off of the Pony Express Road, about half way between Vernon and Calleo. several old mines and a few trails that lead out of there. can be very interesting with a bit of snow on the ground. Lake Mountains are the Hills if you look across Utah Lake, dead west from you in Orem.

Yup. A buddy and I have been talking about a trip out west to Death Canyon for years. My rig should be up to it within a week or two. Maybe we should get a little shindig goin' on for a day or two out there... After all you blokes finish finals maybe...?

Is there a very dry, very small lake bed at the top of Death Canyon?

How about Black Rock Canyon, it's out that direction... towards Tintic.

Can yall give directions to come of these places? I hope to have my axles swapped out soon, so, I will be looking for a wheeling fix myself. Been too long!
I am in Provo, and have no idea where anything is, as I just moved here from Colorado.

.

We have never been able to make it to the top. The only times we have gone out there, is in the winter. without snow, it just be a simple dirt road.

Could not tell you about Black Rock canyon.

well, if anyone needs a passenger, I'm game. I've been trying to get someone else to go w/me on the PE, due to the length and uh, remoteness.

ok, sorry it has taken so long to get back.ok, broke out the map and I was a little long in my description of where it is, the easiest description is that it Death Canyon basically follows Goverment Creek, up through Sheeprock mountains, i don't know the exact FR# but it is further south than Lookout mountain.I'll try to get the FR# today. or the GPS coord.
