Transmission Aux Cooling 700r4

The CJ hood and grill on the YJ frame are giving me fits. I may have to go to radiator that doesn't have an internal tranny cooler. How do the auxiliary coolers work on their own? I also don't want to mount this in front of the radiator if I can help it.

I have a trans temp gauge installed on the 700. Have a fairly small cooler mounted in front of the Mepco brass radiator. I'm cooling with a Taurus fan and have had no real transmission overheating issues.

In that case, you could go with Derale's setup that has its own fan and temp switch. This will allow you to mount it practically anywhere. Here is a TJ with this cooler mounted behind the belly plate, kinda where lots of guys mount tanks for on board air:
