Jeep Transmission swap

Got an ax5 making noise, bought an ax15 with bellhousing, transfer case outf a 1998 with a 6 cyc. will the bellhousing bolt right up to my 2.5? Or will the bellhousing from the ax5 work on the ax15 trans? Someone said spline problems, but i have the transfer case that goes to the ax15 so that is not the problem if its the on the front couldnt i just use a clutch plate that fits the splines of the ax15? if anyone knows if the bell off a 4 liter will bolt on the2`5 liter or if the bell housing off the ax5 will bolt onto the ax15.

99% sure that the 2.5L and 4.0L can swap transmissions.

Well what do you mean my different spline count? are you talking output shaft? because he has the x-fer case that goes with the trans.. are you talking input shaft that goes in the center of the clutch? explain yourself please.

Input shaft going into the center of the clutch. The out put shaft is different as well but since you have the other transfer case it doesn't matter.
