I bought a wood lathe and am looking for green wood that I can turn into bowls and whatnot. I'm interested in hardwood (no conifers) trees and have a chainsaw so I can come cut rounds to the size I need and haul them off. Ideally, the trunk of the tree would need to be over 12-18" around to be worth turning. If you know someone that is planning to cut down a tree in the valley please give me a holler.

Thanks,
Nate

@Gravy Do you know how long ago was it cut down or what kind of tree it was? Send me a pic if you want and I could probably tell you if I'd be interested in it.
My cell is 801-856-9469.

@Pile of parts that'd be great. Yeah just let me know what they are and we can chat. Thanks.

Spring is here so I figure people will start working in their yards and gardens. Just a reminder that I'd love any tips on trees coming down that might could be salvaged for my woodworking. Looking for hardwoods so nothing with needles and bigger is better. Like 12" and bigger trunks. Please holler if you hear about anything that might fit.

Thanks.

I don't know if I'd trust myself to cut down someone elses trees. I'm running pretty low on wood right now so I wouldn't necessarily write off that drive.

I'll be having an elm and silver maple cut down, as well as another silver maple trunk taken out soon. They should haul away the elm as I don't want it, but I plan on having them leave the maple. I'm not sure if I'll keep all of the wood for firewood, but there might be some trunk pieces available.

Do you know the circumference of the elm trunk? What about the maples while I'm asking.

I'd be more than happy to trade some wood that cracked on me for some of your maple. I've got maple, honey locust and some sycamore that I didn't store right. Not tons, but more than I wish I had ..

Where do you live?

Well if you're wanting to burn those maples that's cool but they would also be awesome to turn. Like I said I've got a lot of fire wood here, some split and some not, that I'd trade if that's all you're looking for. A bunch of it has been split and drying for 2 years, some just a year, and some a few months.

This is what I've got, and this is what I'm trying to make. Except without that hole in the middle of the cherry bowl. (That one still hurts to look at.)
