Ok some of are going to laugh but this TEXAN tried to get some one to show us around today but no one could go,so we took off on our own.We stopped got gas and ham and bread for sandwichs and took off thru American Fork Canyon, then to Cascade Springs and down the river back in woods to have pinic with my family. No big deal right well I know better and now the adventure begins and boys I'm about to eat crow, thats how a Texan talks when he made an ass out of himself and so now we begin the ending of my afternoon.
You guys will enjoy this and I bet some of you have pulled a similiar stunt whether you admit it or not its your business.Oh did I mention I had noooo top on.We take off from our pinic and wife says you're not going back thru to deer creek dam are you and I said naw,but as we got futher back I decided what the hell its closer right, well off we go.
Up from the river bottom we go right to where we had problems last time when we trying stay out of a deep walsh and the dirt caved in and ha ha my wife was with me on that one too.Anyways so I'm staying as far left as I can and what happens the dirt caves in on the left side and it's pretty steep on that left side and a ways to the bottom if you know what I mean so I had to winch myself up and out why the wife and kid watch the MAN OF THE HOUSE operate and I won, wiped the SOB and got out,ok got it going my way thanks to my wife who spotted me and patient 2 1/2 yr old wow what good dad huh and we top out and its starts to rain remember 1 hr ago its was 90 degrees and Im taking a nap laying the ground ,as we go its starts to hail lighting poping around and the closer we get the more its raining.Wait whats that elk is thinking when its sees us coming down thru there in rain and slick road. Now its time go down and its really raining. Not only that but we have a cheering section at the bottom watching from the rest area including the sheriff watching the closest about a half mile from bottom it gets really slick and washed out and my faithful wife gets back out to spot me so we dont roll into the rest area.Man we're really getting soaked now and finally tell wife to get in I got it from her lol and we make to the the rest area and thank the law for watching us and put on some dry clothes even though its still raining.I take jeep out 4by into 2 wheel and take off.
When we get to bottom of Provo canyon it feels like jeep is back in 4 wheel so stop and check and the stick brakes in my hand, icing on the cake, but we make it back to Riverton and get in the house.
The moral of story I shouldn't do this by myself and I should ask to find someone else to go early in the week on sundays ,so I cant wait to meet some you guys on RME so I have some guys to go with.

Well dang oh dang that is one heck of a day right there.

Lessons learned right, although this is one I never had to teach myself. Next time wait for some buddies that know the area before going off by yourselves like that.

Funny story and lesson learned. Curious as to where you came out? Did you have to cross under the highway to get on it?

That story was full of flash-backs, flash-forwards and even a few flash-sideways. I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me.
