I think the igneous intrusion is the top pic in post #6. It was a very thin and long fin with straight sides as if someone found a long, deep crack in clay, filled it with concrete, then washed the clay away.

When I ditched the bivy and hopped in the truck at 4 AM I turned it on and let it idle for about 15 min. That was enough to get it toasty warm in the cabin. I think shut it off and cracked two of those windows an inch or two.

When I woke up at 7:30 i did the same thing and I was toasty.

I'd guess that I'd be able to idle the truck for about 8 hours and only use about 1/8 of a tank. My 15 minutes were plenty to get it warm to last until morning, I'd never have to leave it running all night.

Looks like a great trip! I love driving in snow. Do you have gps track of your route? just curious, trying to get more familiar with some of these places in Utah.

I'll bet with that much snow the trail was nice and smooth. I love how silent your rig is when running down a fresh snowy trail. As always, nice report.

I don't have a GPS track, but I'd be happy to point it out on a map sometime.

Absolutely. There were no washboards. I think we went faster in the snow than if it were all dirt.
