Trouble adjusting RE flex joint

My brother is trying to get his Jeep ready for a trip to Moab and needs to adjust one of his Rubicon Express flex joints that is loose. The problem we ran in to is that the Utah salt has rusted up the adjuster threads. We tried Kroil and impact tools but nothing seems to budge it. I could try the heat wrench but I am afraid the nylon inside will melt requiring new parts. That wouldn't be a big problem except for the fact that RE is restructuring and getting parts in time may be a problem. Any ideas on how to bust the threads loose ? I could cut the joint off and weld on a Summit joint but RE uses chromally tube so I would need a TIG welder. I wonder if the inner parts of a Summit joint would fit inside a RE joint ?

Dumb question first....you removed the set screw, right? :)

You don't need a TIG for chromoly, it'll weld just like normal steel.

When a quiet street ride and vibration free driving are required, the rubber bushing ends will give you the feel you want. This end can also be used as a replacement for any control arm utilizing a 1-1/4” x 12 tpi. ‘heim’ type rod end. Uses a 9/16” bolt.

$63.99 #4116260 RH #4116270 LH 1-1/4" 12 tpi, uses a 9/16" bolt.

The set screw wouldn't come out either so I drilled it out and will have to rethread it. I thought chromolly had tro be TIG welded but if I can MIG it I could fix the end myself with a trip to Tera or Summit.

Thanks for showing some options, if I cant bust this one loose with heat I'll have my brother come on down and pick up some parts.

PB Rust blaster is what saved the day for me when i had the same problem on a TJ getting the lower controls to adjust

Kroil > PB Blaster. By a lot.

Cro-mo needs to be tig welded if you want it to retain its desirable properties. (mainly the higher yield strength). If mild steel will work for the application then the Mig will weld it just fine.
