Truck working out

what's a truck like that run? $45k?

Load it up with leather and electronics and you're more like $54k. Then you put on bedliner, 50 gallon fuel tank, on-board compressor, airbags, leveling kit, etc, etc, etc. There's no end to where you can spend your hard-earned $$$! lol.

I love 10 mile, I hate pulling in and out though, one summer we were there and it rained so hard it washed out the road about 50 feet wide down in the dune area of the climb out. that was a fun trip!

This was our first year with the larger trailer and my wife and I had convinced ourselves we were going to stay on the top of the plateau. The kids really wanted to go to our normal spot so they talked us into it. Turns out that upper sand portion was about as good as it gets. It was pretty deep sand but at least it was flat. In years past there has always been a huge dip going over the culvert. Had it been that way this year, the kids would have learned to like a new place!

Good on ya!

I like your setup, I just don't think the video/climb was all that impressive. Nice rig though.

I just drove my unladen with a trailer Dodge up/down that yesterday. It's much harder than the video shows. Doing it with a 14k trailer is fairly impressive.

Thanks for the support, lol. The video just doesn't show it very well. The sand is much deeper and softer than it appears and the steep rocky section gets your attention. For every day I spend camping in the bottom I spend a half an hour planning the exact route I want to take to get out. I agree that impressive to one is ho-hum to another. I didn't expect to get kudos from the rock crawling crowd.

The RV.net crowd on the other hand is freaking out. Most of them pull from one campground with full hook-ups to another. Pulling onto the shoulder on the highway to change a tire is a major off-roading event!

FWIW, I just about got stuck going downhill in 2wd. I was not flying along, but cruising about 15 mph or so. Had to get some momentum going to not have to dig the truck out or go beg for help from someone. We're planning on hanging out there Easter Weekend, but I'm not sure after the recon yesterday.

4H on the way up at about 25 mph was not an issue, but towing your Next Level through that would be a little interesting.

 RV'ers are the ultimate glampers

Ha ha. That would be me. Let's see... I could:

- crawl into the tent at the end of the day and position my sleeping bag so the rocks won't puncture my spleen, or...

- come in from a ride, take a quick hot shower and settle down with a bag of microwave popcorn and a Haagen Daz bar while watching a blu-ray rerun of Star Trek III. "Hey honey... could you close the door so the mosquitoes won't come in?"

How to decide, how to decide... ;) :D

That was crazy. I guess I was really spoiled camping in Glamis, camping off of Gecko road is a breeze compared to that. I don't know if I would have taken my rig down there. Your nuts!

 Trust me, I understand. I have a new 35' trailer sitting in my driveway that I just bought.
