Turbo's 1997 Dodge RamCrawler

Owners Name & City- Matt Klouzek

Make, Model & Year of Vehicle- 1997 Dodge Ram 1500

Engine- 5.9L Magnum V-8

Transmission- 47RE Auto

T-Case- NP 231

Axles- Dana 44 front, chromo shafts, HD U-joints / 9.25 rear, welded (for now... Rockwells soon to come!!!)

Suspension- Owner made custom long arm front with 10" Full throttle suspension coils, homemade limiting straps, 14" travel shocks / Alcan customs leaves rear, homemade shackle flip with 3/8" owner fabbed boomerang shackles, 14" travel shocks

Wheels and Tires- BRAND NEW 15/42 x 15R PitBull Rockers on 15x10 Rockcrawler Steelies, custom BS

Winch- working on it, they are expensive!!!

Favorite Trails- Any of the Moab trails, especially Hell's Revenge, Prichett Canyon, Kane Creek Canyon, and Golden Spike

Other- I made front and rear bumpers out of T-1 armor plate so they are literally BULLETPROOF!!! Also I dovetailed the bed so the tailgate has a 30" openning. I have done all of the work on the truck myself with basic tools in a garage! Lots of time and effort and even though my parent's don't approve of it, I still love what I do and will keep building Rockcrawlers!!!

Next project is what I am calling the "MEGA-REX". Based on Sprueitt's T-REX 6x6, it will be based on a late model 2500 Ram Quad-cab, diesel, short bed. 3 steering rockwells, 49" IROKS, body narrowed 12-16" from grill to tailgate, etc!! Should be a blast!!!! Stay tuned for upcoming build thread!!!!!

They work GREAT!!!! And for not having beadlocks... they conform AWESOME to the rocks at 5 psi! I found a nice overhanging rock and tested out the sidewall strength.... let's just say they work!

Yeah, yeah, I just have had the worst luck with shops around here. I took the beater in to have the rear axle burned in. I dropped it off in October and they were done with in in March. I then took the beater to another shop to have all the repairs done to it in March. My truck is still sitting there waiting. But, in the fellas defence he had to finish buiding his shop and then his wife went into labor two months too soon. Then his son was born but one month too soon. His wife had to have a C-section and then was bound to the hosipital for one more week. Then when they got to come home he had to help her with everything since she was recovering from a major surgery. After this was all done and his wife returned back to work the Fire Marshall did not show up for months to give his blessing on the new shop. He is open now but is soo backed up he has yet to get to my POS.

I may be there in October but I may have to either wheel the tow rig or ride shotgun.

No rockwells! Too noisy, too big, too heavy, too limited on the steering, too limited on the gear ratios, and every part for them is a little hard to come by. You just can't go to your nieghborhood parts store and get parts for them. Last time at Moab I had a lot of little things go wrong. I had sloppy steering so I used a lot of throttle to get the rear end around. Because of the liberal use of throttle my tranny started to slip bad. Because my tranny started slipping I had to hit obsticles a little too hard. Because I was hitting things a little too hard I broke the rear end, rear driveline, and the rear output on the transfer case. So I need to replace and re-think the steering, replace tranny, torque converter, rear end, rear driveline, front driveline, install new brake lines, breather lines, roll cage, (I have almost put the damned thing over I don't know how many times), cut down the doors, and remove a leaf or two on the suspension. There really is not a whole lot of parts just time.

Matt, I will be giving you a call in the morning and I will also call the shop and see what the status in on my POS.

If we let up I will be retired before you ever finish your rig, Just put it together so we can have some fun, or you will have to sit in the back of the T-rex with my girls and they will razz you about not wheeling your own truck:rofl::rofl::rofl:.

Or bring it up here and Cheston, Matt, and I will put it together for you.
