What a great place to have an event!
Tony (he runs the place) and Dustin Sexton (Sexton Offroad) spent Friday afternoon building stuff for us to play on.

Saturday there was a couple inches of fresh snow to add to the fun.

The quarry was an awesome place to wheel. Carnage was light compared to what it could have been. The worst of it was 3 rigs with broken axle shafts and Carl's little mishap where he tipped over his jeep.
Now my pictures are really biased and you can check by 40Cal at bogley
http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15930
and in the forums on Sexton's web site www.sextonoffroad.com

I am not quite sure what I pay my photographer for. Oh yeah now I remember, she likes yellow broncos and yellow labs, and she puts up with me!

Did I mention she really hates the cold and snow?

I think Carl thought his jeep was a bronco, later he put on more of a show for us in the ralley event.

OK who is in the Blazer? just wonderin if I know him.

He said to look him up through Dusty Sexton as he lives and works in Kamas. He said he was on that St George trip a few weeks ago.

Here are some great pictures Laura Sexton sent me. There's a great one of that Blazer catching a some air on the hill climb.

By looking at all the photos and noticing all the folks bundled up I am going to agree that it must have been COLD! I also looks like a construction site, is this correct? Or is this a privately owned park? Looks like fun but, I think I would have waited for warmer weather.

The UBC (Utah Bronco Club) started out early in the morning Valentines day wondering if we would even be able to wheel. It had snowed 2 inches previously and covered all the obstacles built yesterday. We were even worried there would be more jeeps than Broncos. Luckily that wasn't the case. We had 10 Early Bronco's, 6 Jeeps, 1 F150, 1 fullsize Blazer, 1 Toyota landcruiser, and only 1 roll over.
The event started off great everyone signed a waiver of course to protect the owner of Mountain Valley Stone, who graciously let us play here. Tony then fired up the scale and anyone who wanted to weighed in thier vehicle. average weight for a Bronco was 4400 LBS. and for a Jeep Cherokee was 4500 LBS. after that we moved over to the RTI rock and it took a few tries to get the rock warm enough to not slide off.
Next we started the first obstacle which was a boulder field nicely laid out by Tony's workers from the Quarry. It was around 100 ft long of two to three foot boulders. Dry it would have been easy for most rigs but with snow you would slide right into the holes. we had alot of diff hangers and a couple rigs that had to get pulled out.

Obstacle two Consited of a large rock pile that we stuck some navigational cones to meander through. again with the rock being wet it was difficult to stay where you wanted. after topping the rock pile the vehicle was asked to negotiate a tight turn onto a three foot ledge turn 180 degrees and drop off another 4ft ledge this caused some wheels in the air action and one roll over.

The Third obstacle was machine built by the crew from Mountain Valley Stone and consisted of a 20 foot high wall of rocks. There were three lanes one hard lane, one harder lane, and one stupid hard lane. A couple attempts on the stupid lane were made but none successfully made it to the top. The snow was really hard to climb on. the hard lane was attempted and completed by quite a few. after the climb you ran along the berm to a 5ft drop that made a few pucker up good.

We ate lunch at the BBQ pit for about an hour. It was quite amazing that even though there was little planning everyone brought the same food so sharing was easy because nobody knew who's brats were who's. Thanks to John Hansen for the cooking and to the Park City Fire district firefighters association for the use of the BBQ trailer.
After Lunch we headed down 300 feet to the bottom of the quarry for a baja/ rock race around the recently excavated parts of the active quarry. This was a two lap timed event with the best time going to Carl Nielson. Who after rolling his wifes jeep on its side decided graduation for the little cherokee has been completed and rocked around the course, with 2 tires in the air most of the time, in 3 minutes 10 seconds.

Next we climbed to the top of the quarry and tried our luck at the snow climb. the hill originally picked for the climb was devoid of snow so we shifted to another hill that claimed three axle shafts and a transfercase.
