My plan was to use just the footprint, fly and poles if the truck tent idea does not pan out (also have the stakes and guy lines as well). I have set it up that way before and it's a pretty neat setup. I figured since we are not staying long at our camping sites, that the minimalist set up would be nice. Though, I think I will throw the tent body in the truck as well.

Ya, its a nice feature to be able to just set up the fly.

I have been checking the weather as well and man, you are right, it's going to be freezing! Glad I decided to get a new sleeping bag!
 
I know its last minute but if it's alright with everyone I'll snag that spot and try to have a fire going tonight. I wish I could do the whole trip but an overnighter is better than nothing. I'll be in a black 4runner which should be virtually impossible to see in the dark :laughing: Again if I'm not stepping on toes I know its really late notice.

Great :D If that spot is taken I'll just keep heading onward (South) until I see another good one. I'll keep a close eye out for you guys.
