Used Guns

I'm jonesing for a Ruger 10/22 Carbine. I know that they are cheap new, I've seen them for as low as $199. But they have been in production virtually unchanged for 55 years, so there have got to be good used ones floating around.
Who has a good recommendation on where to purchase used gun? I'd prefer local so I can see it first, but I would consider online.

What's sad is they are so popular you can usually buy them new for about the same price as a used one. To me the extra $25 is worth the price of a new one just so you don't have to worry about if the previous owner took care of it. In Utah if you go the used route KSL is probably your best bet. A quick look shows your $200 price is cheaper than they are selling most of them though...

They don't get sold used for "good" prices because everybody needs one. :)

In fact, I can't believe you don't already own one.

WTF is tactical about a .22? This makes about as much sense as building a Samurai in this modern age. If you need something 'tactical' build something with some tact. :D

.. Because it looks scary; duh Kurt. ;)

I see nothing wrong with it as a little plinker. You won't see lasers, lights, can openers and blades hanging off of mine if I do end up with one...

Then why buy a gun that is designed to utilize them? Its like putting a roof-top-tent on your rig without a ladder or a ham radio in the dash without an antenna ;) If you want a pat on the back and a 'thats cool' I'll give you that for free :p

Do it, with prices right now it could be done for ~$500 pretty easily, ~$400 is even doable with some patience and searching. I know .22's are cool and fun/practical to shoot, but get a regular .22 and not one that's pretending to be something else.

I resent that.-_-

Target acquired. (from a past Samurai owner to another ;))

I'll give my plug for the Henry Survival .22. Its the epitome of practical imo. Shoots great, wastes no space or weight with 'tacticool' looks (is that like glamping or is that glooting?). The fact that it disassembles into the size of a shoe is a welcoming feature, stores under seat, next to a seat, behind the seat, you get the point.

Thats the same as an AR-7, right? I've shot an AR-7 and an Israeli Pilot Survival Rifle (more 'tacticool' than the AR) and they are pretty cool. I'll keep that under advisement. Perhaps after the 10/22.

BTW, bigger more modern vehicle in the works. Hoping to seal the deal after the first of the year.
