Ok, my turn!

Well, a little while back they did something really petty, insulting, catty, and hurtful, so I decided maybe I shouldn't rely on their friendship so much. They got really gossipy (I know it's not a word) and egocentric.

I thought this was routine behavior for gurls.

Well yesterday I had to buil a modular unit in a room that was 11' 1" long. Now the plans called for the table tops to be 11" long. Perfect, I had one inch to spare. The first part I told the guy that was helping me to do was to make sure the wall track is as tight to the corner as possible. There is a stub that he cant drill through so he just moves out of the corner about 1 3/4". I tell him to make sure its as tight as possible in the corner and he doesn't listen. So i let him go.... Low and behold we have to cut down the other end because there isn't enought room. And the overhead bins that go above it, they have to be cut down too... What an idiot. And Of course I"ll take the heat for it, even though he's making mor $$ than me and thinks he
s worth it....... :mad2:

OMG....How about getting paid at the hourly rate of one person but doing everyone else’s jobs because you’re the type of person who sees a problem and cant let it go because it festers when you know that you can do a better job. But you are also stuck because in these parts good jobs are hard to come by and the finances are really tight so, you would rather suffer with the current job you are at
. I think that there is only one other person I work with out of the 40 people in my building that do not permanently have their heads stuck up their asses!! Or project Director is so laid back that he refused to hire a manager for our maintenance department because he is too cheap and does not want to have to put out some extra money. Instead, he lets 3 Guys sit on their ass for 8 hours a day or more looking up porn on our guests computers while our hot tub has been out of commission for over two weeks now, every toilet in the hotel is not flushing, the pool is turning brown, there are lights out all over the place, there is trash building up on the property, all the plants in house are dying, there are not fireplaces in the rooms that consistently work ect. And this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel? So, of course, over my manager I am ALWAYS on everyone’s asses trying to get things fixed and running in the off season so that we are not screwed for when season starts again. I also have to explain everyone’s jobs to them everyday. It really is not that hard. My employees are here for eight hours a day and cant take the time to take my e-mails and explanations into consideration and acknowledge the fact that they are getting paid way more than any other front desk staff in Park City. My manager won’t do anything except maybe raise a foot in regards to getting everyone off their asses and working. If he had to fire anyone or lay down some law it would cost the company more money. So the mentality is now that we are in off season everyone has the right to sit around with their heads up their asses with the "I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT" expression on their faces. Not to mention the lack of COMMON SENSE around these parts. I also have to correct everyone’s mistake which seems to be growing and growing by the day. I present all the issues to three of the managers around these parts and nothing gets done. So of course only I can get the S*** taken care of in a day instead of the month it normally takes. And the fact that we are not allowed to get overtime because of our sales department who seems to be doing a really great job at spending their money and going WAY over budget by millions of dollars putting everyone else here with jobs is a really tight situation. No department here ever agrees on anything because of personal matter they hold against each other and there is a really fine line as to who is professional and who is not. There is no one here I look up to because I do everyone’s job for them. I wish that I could just blow all this s*** off but I can’t not work. It takes me on a slow day about 5 hours out of the eight that I am here to get my work done, after that I am looking for things to get done that may cause a problem in the future or just need to get taken care of. I guess I wish that I would get noticed more. Usually at a good job you have at least one person that you respect in a professional manner, but I don’t.
Whew, I feel a lot better. :D
Thanks for allowing the vent thread...it helps.

...That x eleventy-billion...try being a salary employee, working 65+ hrs a week (getting paid based on 40, mind you) while the others working for you as hourly wage earners are bringing in $2600-2800 each week...
That's enough to make me :mad2:

I'm grumpy because I went to Moab for the first time this weekend and my camera and my video camera both broke!!!! My camera had antifreeze on the lens so the pics came out looking like crap and my camcorder had water spilled on it and now it won't work. When I tried to take the cassette out it was being eaten by the camcorder :-\ . Basically I have no proof that I was there except for this sun burn on my arms and back and I now have to get my camcorder fixed :mad2: .

Oh yeah... and I broke a spring perch (the welds) and the axle is off caster and my driveline shakes like crazy. I also think I have a bad u joint in the front axle. Yeah... Moab is fun!

If you think it's hot now, just wait!!

I got sent to Calipatria about 4 years ago in the middle of August. Stayed over in Vegas and went there in the morning. Not too bad in the morning when I left Vegas. Got to Calipatria and got out of the car and almost melted. Was in the upper 120's. Never seen that hot before. That wasn't as bad as when we were working though. We were building some steel tanks at one of the geothermal power plants down there. Try working inside a 100' diameter black steel tank in the middle of a day when it's about 120 outside and the tank is just soaking in all that heat. Probably closer to 130-140 inside the tank! All you do is sweat.

One day we were putting a mechanism inside one of the tanks and I was laying on top of a piece of plate. Must have drug my arm across the edge and sliced it about 1/8" deep and probably 3" long. Must have dripped blood for almost an hour before the foreman noticed it. I was sweating so much inside the tank that I just thought it was sweat running down my arm. Had my glove on that hand completely soaked in blood. hehehe

Good Luck!

Calipatria... that place is awesome, isn't it? I do feel a little better after hearing your story, especially the wound.

On monday it was only 105*... :( Rail temp is usually 30 degrees hotter than ambient, so we get to work with & around steel radiating at 135-140*. And it's only May...

Those geothermal power plants are intresting, I'd like to get a closer look at one someday.

SUPER CHEESY
At my work we have some lazy arses, who don't want to work so they use any excuse they can to get out of doing thier jobs (what jobs aren't like this), all they have to do is call the HR guy and cry on the phone to him about how they have to be to a "therapy" (not physical therapy if you know what I'm talking about) session right after work so they can't stay an extra 15-30 minutes 2-3 times a month. So 10 minutes before the end of the shift the forman has to come to me (my job is all done because I worked extra hard, wanting to get home on time) and ask me to finish some other crybaby's job. The other day we had a big day on friday, so management told everyone on our day shift we wold be working 12hr shifts. Everyone was fine with that except one bawlbaby called and said he had therapy and couldn't stay. My oppinion: THERAPY DOES NOT PAY YOUR BILLS, GET YOUR A** IN HERE AND PULL YOUR WEIGHT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
And another thing, just because you go hunting with the boss doesn't mean you don't have to work for a living!
I sure hope nobody I work with reads this (except you Chris, even you know your lazy :ugh: )

Reviving old thread because today went to crap in a hand basket in hurry.
And it was sorta self inflicted and I just want to vent.

Finally got the motor swap in the new 4x van done, last night, all buttons buttoned, and zippers zipped.

Excited as a 16 year old kid with first car on my way to work today (has been a year since I have had a toy 4x, or a 4x van, 2.8 cherokee's and xploder's are no substitute).

Hit I84, and notice the temp gauge climbing a tad higher than I was comfortable with. So I remembered to remember the flexalite, and that solved that. Drove on 3 miles further, maybe 4 ,and noticed the gauge had quit decreasing and was off the frigging scale.

WTF?

So, I pulled over, all looked normal, and smelt normal, and felt normal, fired him back up, and started like new, ran like new, and about 1.5 miles later as I was getting off the freeway and calling for a tow, just put this motor in mind you, that familiar "you're a dumbass and you just cooked your Toyota" bottom end rattle came through quite audibly.

Turns out the Barrs stop leak that plugged the radiator hole ( only planned on temp fix for a week, todays check will be like $85) decided to take today from doing its job, and the radiator pissed out all its fluid.

Pulled the radiator to get fixed, cooled off no rattles, I thought maybe, Toy's are tuff lil' critters, but the compression test showed 180-#1, ( got excited) 85-#2, 75-#3, and 175-#4.

Soiunds like BHG to me.

I would cuss alot, but bannishment doesn't sound fun.......

I'm a little grumpy because I just got my last check until October, and that means I'm almost out of money for the summer. Plus, I have to move a bunch of heavy stuff into the garage by myself: big 427 tall deck, couple 205's, big pressure washer, and like 12 tires/rims. Then I need to get rid of my favorite Jeep ever, my 78 Cherokee. Tomorrow I'm going on vacation for a week, which is nice and all, but I would really rather be building my truck. When I get home I have to run over to CO in a borrowed truck/trailer thanks to some asshat who bailed on a deal we had. I should bring him the truck anyway and just dump it in his yard. That would rock.

but I'm not really that grumpy today.

Oh boy do I need a vent session today!
So.... my Jr High went up in flames yesterday, and the only good thing about that is that it wasn't my house! (when I saw the smoke on the way home from campus yesterday, it looked close to where my house is seeing as it's pretty close to Wasatch Jr. High)
Today, I'm thinking about getting a new job because the head of the department had the nerve to hire her daughter's (who also works there) best friend who is lazy and sloppy and doesn't do the dang job. She hired her back in February and I trained and retrained...and retrained... and retrained her, but she feels like since she has the "in" with the head of the department (and also kinda with the head Dr.... for *other* reasons) she gets special privileges. Which, unfortunately, she does most of the time. And then she complains that I supposedly "hog all the work"... as if I want to... I just clean up the HUGE messes she creates for 85% of my work day... so I decided to stop helping her today, and, surprise surprise, there was a HUGE problem... which I had no knowledge of and therefore had no responsibility to fix... I'd like to see the head of the department blame me for that one.... I swear....

Anybody need a secretary extraordinaire? I might be taking applications for a new employer really soon...
