Wake The Hell Up!!!

EDIT: Steve beat me to the punch...

You said it much better than I.

We have two options:

1. Everyone get involved and contribute money, write letters, and volunteer your time.

2. Find a way to get me $5 million, and I'll take care of everything.

Either way, we can save our existing access, and maybe reopen a few routes with a little luck.

Actually, I guaran-damn-tee you that I'll reopen 90% of everything that has ever been closed if you get me that $5 million.

Look at the bottom. It's only been there for a year. We've had at least 3 other pieces on AYL this year. More than we had last year.

I will be more then happy to give you my number! I want to help as much as I can! I just barley started to read all this myself. Normaly I had my hubby tell me whats going on. Now you guys have got my ears perked and Im more then willin to help out.

So would it do any good for me to volunteer for the Membership Director for an 8th time?

No, I will continue to ignore you. Really, I completely forgot. How could that be possible? It hasn't been on my mind because the volume is low this time of year, but the busy "season" is coming up between January and May. Remind me again in a few days, because I will surely forget again.

1) how is a fine for breaking the law a restriction? would the law not be considered the restriction? cause and affect.. law.. fine/consequence Am i off my rocker here? please help me out if i'm misunderstanding you. -Jason[/QUOTE said:
The discussion was a $10,000 fine? I'm against that. I'm not against ya'all on this fundamentally.
But haven't ya ever met a @#$#$ fish and game weenie who acted like God? He could smack you with a fine like that and you'd have hell to pay trying to get it done right. You'd be at the mercy of some #@#$# judge then. Yeah you can say it's up to the person to ensure they don't go somewhere illegal. But if you wander off the 'authorized' section, just a bit, how would you know? Or what if you're on the authorized land, and they cop says you're not?
The $10,000 fine would probably drive a lot of people to stop offroading out of fear.
That big a fine would be too hard to fight.
If i was in the right, and i had a 100$ fine, and the judge said too bad, then at least i'm not mortgaging the wife to pay for it :D
Of course i'm NOT saying its okay to leave the road, tear up the trail, all that.

so you're saying, that you might be in support of a law that is worded very carefully, as to be extremely careful in how it's worded so that there is no confusion...

as in, an RS2477 issue of a closed road, would be a different fine than the yahoos driving off any designated road in general, and making their own road..

something to that affect..

While I'm not necessarily for a huge fine like that I am definately for increased enforcement of curent law. By enforcing the law it means that person who committed the infraction is now partially educated in what they shoud and shouldn't be doing. I've said it so many times before, it is all about educating people on what they should be doing. Fines only get us half way there.

ONLY? half way from where ever it is that we are now, is alot farther than where we are now? anyone know where we're at? ;)

i agree with you... but any little bit is going to be a series of huge victories. the road to no public land is a whole lot of intentions to write letters, get active in a club/association/ donate time skils and money.... and even if you take that road.. it's probably closed and you drive on it cause you claim RS2477 ;)

the time is here and now, we weill make a difference.. just watch, after you and everyone has put in all the effort you can ;)

Yes, only. How many times have you been out and seen an enforcement officer? The only times I have, have been at 5mp, and when I worked for DNR when the rangers would do OHV patrols, and that was only on busy weekends like holidays. It's one thing to have a huge fine as a deterrent, but when you don't have anyone out there to educate and enforce, that fine means nothing. Don't get me wrong Jason, we are both on the same page, but those who break the law now won't be discouraged by a bigger fine if they know the chances of getting caught are almost zero.

well skylinerider, i feel that beefier fines would only be a portion to updating how thing operate now... we've gotta somehow get funds dropped into the areas that will put more officers out there to monitor and educate...

there's alot to be done.. but i know it's possible.. SUWA.. who's SUWA? i'm SAMI, though 'SUWA' might win more points in Scrabble, i can kick SUWA's arse... cause the entire burrito is gonna lock the hubs, engage the ARB's, and hold on while we rally all the hell over SUWA.. ;)
