It was my brothers friend who was driving the Bronco. He is my friend too and I've wheeled with him before. His rear axle broke going up the climb. I guess it is really steep and lose and while he was backing down he rolled. There was a tree that ended up stopping them. Probably would have rolled another 50-75 yards.

He has a broken collar bone, rib, humerus(upper arm). I haven't heard how the other 4 are doing. I saw his Bronco on the news and don't know how any of them are alive. That thing was demolished.

My brother called me and asked me if I knew where he was going wheeling. I saw him yesterday as I was getting some tires swapped over. He works at the Discount Tire in Lindon. He told me they were going to go out by 5 mile pass. Don't know why he decided to go somewhere else.

Where exactly did this happen? The hill looks familiar.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it is just to the left of that area west of Utah lake where people are shooting trash all the time.

I rallied up that hill a few weeks ago in my Xterra and it scared the poo outta me

New story said Lake Mountain. It's about 8 miles south of the Smiths. The news helicopter I saw was a little to the south kind of by the shooting area.

While at the stop light at the 4 corners area (heading out to 5 mile pass), the flatbed wrecker with the Bronco came from the south and turned to go into Lehi right in front of us. We got a pretty good look at it and the entire roof was basically at hood level. I don't know the guy, but I'd assume he's one of the many Bronco or Blazer owners that think they don't need roll cages since they come without them. He obviously had the money to lift it and put (what looked like) 35's on aluminum beadlock rims. I bet his next rig will have a cage for sure...

They all basically walked away from it. They were all released from hospitals except the driver, with minor injuries. He was near the top of what they call "Roll Over Hill" found that out after the fact. He was actually in the process of building a roll cage for it. He had done the hill a number of times before. A mechanical failure was the cause, as kyojin pointed out.

Thanks for describing where this hill is.

That is the one I did in the Xterra.

I think I'll avoid it from now on
