So the Colorado DOT worked their asses off and moved hundreds of thousands of tons of debris and material and after an extensive inspection, actually opened I70 thru the Glenwood Canyon last Saturday. I traveled thru the canyon 4 times since then, for work. There are some small lane closures in locations, but the delays are minimal. The amount of damage to the freeway thru the canyon is massive, there are places that the concrete roadway is just missing, with broken rebar jutting out. One of the lane closures passes right by one of the spots.
The sheer amount of debris and material in the riverbed and canyon bottom is insane.... multiple locations that have almost damned the Colorado river and changed it's course big time.
The RR tracks were opened back up for traffic within 4 days of the initial slides, but they will be cleaning up debris for a year or two.
