I've been in Fortuna, CA the past week crusing the Redwoods, playing in the ocean/beaches (ocean water does not play well with alternators, trust me, I know), swimming in kick butt swimming holes on the river, etc. We had just finished for the day on the river, and leaving I saw a class C motorhome on the other bank of the river with it's hood up. I stopped to see if I could see any movement, and then I see the motorhome try to move. So I radio to my buddy and tell him I that I can't leave this poor guy there - let's go see if he needs help.

First of all, this is a river bank. Lot's of loose gravel and sand. No motorhome has any business driving on this stuff! No cars either for that matter...

Anyway... We get over there, and the guy is ecstatic to see us!!! Saying that he has been on hold with AAA for the past 20 minutes to get someone to come help.

The extraction was very simple, actualy. I thought I would need the winch, but I was able to just pull him backwards. Granted, my tires were spinning the whole time, but after a few minutes I was able to get him back to a spot where he could back himself out. On the way to that point, we hear FIRE!!! So I jump out of the Jeep with my extinguisher, he is already jumping out of the motorhome with his. Something under the coach was dripping - tranny fluid most likely? and caught fire. How? We don't know! But it did. I told the guy to get it up on the pavement and call for help.

After getting him out, and exchanging pleasntries (no money, his appreciation was enough), I find out he runs an exhaust shop. So if anyone needs any exhaust for their ATV, dirt or even road bike, give him a shout and tell him I sent you. He told me if I ever needed anything, he would hook me up bigtime. ;)

So if I'm down by the river and in need of some exhaust work he is the guy to see right?:p

Next week?? Unnacceptable!

Sorry.. .I don't have any way to get the pics off the camera until I get home Sunday. A friend was there, but he forgot his camera 2 of the days we were there, and this was one of them days.

He did send me pictures of when I drowned my Rubi in the ocean, killing the motor and needing him to winch me out - quickly too! I was sinking fast!!!!! That cost me $150 for a new alternator :mad2: But at least the motor still runs and I didn't lose the Jeep to the waves :D
