My wife's LEV was broken into last night. She's a federal officer, makign this a federal crime. If the dipstick is found, they will serve several years over a pack of gum and a Garmin. Apparently we don't live in as nice of area as I thought  (probably one of the kids up the street is what we're thinkign).

ANyway! Can I use a webcam to make video each night? I'd like to use my spare Dell D600 laptop and a USBb webcam I have to record everything through the night. Each night can over write the previous nites, as we'll know if something like this happens again early on.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Software that I'd need?

I have been using a program called Active Webcam. It only records motion, so I can just watch all of the motion videos and I will keep several weeks on hand.

It is interesting what happens when no one is watching.

Over the last few months 2 people have lost their jobs over what I recorded :-\

Sounds perfect! Which should I buy? Standard, pro or deluxe?

Standard doesn't sound like it does everything I would like
Pro sounds like it does everything
Deluxe sounds like it does everything I want plus internet broadcast?

So probably pro? Can I print images from pro? or make a DVD of the crime to hand to someone else to play on their DVD player? or maybe email them a clip or picture?

Ordered up the Active Webcam software today... I'll try it out tonight!

Thanks for the link, Badger... I'll check that out if my webcam doesn't work in the dark - I have lots of lights around the house, so I don't think the driveway is too dark for this to work. Our CC&R's require a light at the curb (post light), and two lights at the garage to be on each night. The pole light isn't more than 10' from the car that busted into the other night. I'll put the webcam and laptop in one of the spare bedrooms overlooking the driveway.
