Well, I think I'm gonna buy a gooseneck

I sold my trailer saturday and have been looking for a good price on a trailer large enough to haul two rigs. I stopped by lone peak to check out the one like cherokeester(sp) has and there wasn't any there. I ended up going back to bubbas in ogden and found great deal on a gooseneck. Problem is, it's a heavy mofo and I dont know if the the F250 can take it. Any experiances with the 14k bubbas or similar trailer?
Thanks,
Marcus

I had one just like that and a v10 powered ford, and the 10 just couldn't take it, my buddy actually ended up towing me and my tow rig on my trailer with his ford diesel:p

I'd say no matter the trailer you get if you plan on hauling 2 rigs with that V10, you better bring a good book.

Diesels are cheap right now....

Yah, I know. Its gonna be S_L_O_W on the hills. I may swap in a set of 4.30s or 4.56s before EJS to make it liveable. The truck is paid for so, I have more play money for myself although I really want a 6spd diesel.

I really didn't want a 14k trailer but, the price is right and resale will be better than the 10-12K single tired trailers I was looking at if I hate towing it.

My biggest fear
Thrashing my jeep in moab and then hanging a rod on the towrig on the way home...good thing I have roadside assistance:rofl:

I think you missed a couple o's and some w's. You only have to scatter one motor or burn up one trans to cover most of the difference between your V10 truck and a diesel.

I figured the underscores would be sufficient :greg:

Most of the diesels we see at work are pretty thrashed for 10K and I hate car payments so, I'm SOL for now. I spend way more time driving my rig to work, running around town ETC than towing two jeeps so Its hard for me to justify the investment. Better start looking for spare parts now......

Long as the plugs stay in the heads she'll be fine...

my friend is buying a gooseneck and i bet if you both go in to the trailer place aka lone peak or bubbas you could get a discount on 2 trailers.

There's a place in Layton that had a really nice, lighter gooseneck (oxymoron there) that I really liked. It wasn't built to put a bulldozer or backhoe on, but would handle 8-9000 lbs fairly easily. I think it was a 12K trailer. I honestly don't remember the price. Seems like $4500 comes to mind?

mbryson is it right off the freeway called wasatch trailers. ?

Yeah, that's them. Seemed like good guys to work with and I think the trailer that I looked at was a PJ. It was built really solid, but somewhat light. I told them I didn't want to haul a bulldozer or backhoe, but it could see about 8-10,000 lbs. Normally it would haul about 5000-5500 lbs (my Jeep and tent trailer).

tandem axle (non-dually) I liked it a lot. If I get some extra bucks (not likely) I'm gonna snag one. I think it was 26 ft. long.

I would look into a lowboy style trailer... cant you get heavy capacity without the dualies, like 7k axles like this but longer obviousliy http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-18-fT-GOOSENECK-CARGO-FLATBED-AUTO-HAULER_W0QQitemZ1900770285

You are totally right. I really did not want the duallies or that heavy of a trailer. I wanted a dual axle single wheel lowboy 10k or 12k unit but, I am getting this one for a killer deal (about $1800.00 less than the other trailers) but, I will keep my eyes open until Saturday.

Thanks,
Marcus
