A friend and I went out to the snakes today... He has a pretty much stock XJ...3.5" RE lift and just bought some 31's today, so he had to test them! lol

He went all the way up to eagles nest without much problems. Some dented rockers and I strapped him twice - the first was that real narrow area between the trees where you have to dodge the big boulder and the second was at the top of the hill where you have to make that hard left. If he would have been locked up, there wouldn't have had any need for the strap.

Here's a couple of poser shots that were took on the trail....

Front tire was about 3' off the ground and I thought for sure I was going to flip over!

Some flex....And yes, all tires were touching the ground/rock... -_-

Put the amount of flex into perspective.... He's about 6'4"...

We didn't take any... It's one of those things that we go on this trail a couple times a week, you've seen and done everything and don't even take the camera with you. Someone from another board was trying to tell me that RELA kits aren't very flexible. Since I've been on the trail so many times, I knew just where there was a 5' tall rock that I stop for a poser shot to prove him wrong! :D But looking back, I wish I would have taken some of him on CON.... :-\ Another day!!

ok, so the bottom of the tire hits him at about waist level, that would be about half of his height, that would be some mad flex of about 3 feet....

Just putting it into perspective....

The driver tire is below his waste, and the passenger tire is above. With 35" tires, that is pretty close to 3'. The boulder is about 5' tall, and my tire is about 4' off the ground. I would have went all the way up, but I was already pretty tippy where I was at. I didn't want to roll showing off! hmmmm Isn't that how it always happens though? :ugh:

Where was that first pic taken?

The first picture was taken about half way through RS. Right after you get through the rock garden you come to a double/single (depending on your line) waterfall.

Hey Shawn, what "mad" flex do you get?

That's not much different than my street legal, brand new Rubicon. Which is way different than a rock buggy.

If you look at the height of your front tire compared to the low of your rear, there is about the same distance on mine - enough to put a tire underneath. All four of my tires are on the ground, just as yours are. ;)

ehhh, that left is kinda tricky, I've seen people have some issues there even with lockers, (including me, when it was wet)

Wow you have a TJ time machine.....we at least know that the trail will still be there in August (09/05/2005). J/K...those dates/# on the pics would screw me up in the future if I came across them. So did you get up Wayne's World this time around?

I didn't even notice the date on my camera is screwed up!

Naw, we didn't go up eagles nest. I knew he wouldn't make it and I knew he wasn't getting out without my help and I didn't want to drive clear around. So we just turned around right there.

Come to find out the stock XJ didn't just get body damage, he ruined both motor mounts! lol

Broke both motor mounts...

Dude, he broke both motor mounts? Remind me to never wheel with you again... :hickey:

You gonna cough up some free parts for him from your business? :)

Yeah, he did.. I doubt it was the trail that did it though. His XJ needs work and it's high mileage, too.

I didn't get them free for him, but I did let him have them at cost - $10 each.
